The "big" news in the NBA right now is the Miami Heats winning streak. So are ya bitin' yer nails with each game? Are you overwhelmed with their greatness?
Well I'm not. Lord knows I really don't care .. for now. When I do care though is when they beat legitimate teams in the NBA Playoffs. I don't value the Heat even being in the NBA Playoffs. In my opinion they should decline to participate.
I don't value teams in any sport that achieve "greatness" through a program of buying talent developed elsewhere. The Steinbrenner Yankees come to mind. If the Bobcats did that (as if they could), I'd lose all care about them.
That practice diminishes the sport and greatly devalues the purchased talent. No doubt Lebron is a phenomenon who should be worthy of our full attention. But in Miami? Well he might as well be on the Globetrotters. 5, 6, 7 championships? So what? They'll all be forgettable and good riddance when the run is over.
27 game winning streak? Why not 127?
Sorry OKC, sorry Chicago; sorry San Antonio; if only you could have dumped some "contracts" and bought two or three future Hall of Famers you'd be better off. Rubes.
