    Default NC State Religion

I know not everyone here lives in NC, but many do. I hadn't seen this until today and it shocked me. Figured I'd post given the lively debate on gun control and the 2nd ammendment.

I also learned I can't run for office in NC, which is probably best for all.

    Default NC State Religion

Most laws like the one prohibiting office for those who don't believe in God, are actually not in effect because they are prohibited by federal laws. But then again so is medicinal marijuana legislation...

NC, like many Southern states, has a multitude of outdated laws stemming from religion/conservative ideals.

Here's a few more- including the famous declaration of fellatio as a crime against nature...

Why couldn't you run for office FFP? Not crooked enough?

From the local link (HuffPost wouldn't open for me):

    http://www.wral.com/proposal-would-a...lina/12296876/

The Tenth Amendment argument, also known as "nullification," has been tried unsuccessfully by states for more than a century to defy everything from the Emancipation Proclamation of the Civil War to President Obama's health care reforms to gun control.
I wouldn't worry too much...it won't stick even if it is passed.

If a man and a woman who aren’t married go to a hotel/motel and register themselves as married then, according to state law, they are legally married.
Holy shit...that means I have like 10 wives!

    Fun website.

I guess what shocked me about this one is that the proposition on the table is new and thus not outdated. This isn't something concocted in the 1800s.

This is just a political ploy which is just what they do.

Say they pass it...then it's struck down by the Federal Courts. Congressman then says to his radical constituents "See, I tried doing the right thing but those damn Communist Liberals are blocking it yet again! THIS is why I need you to donate every dollar you have hid under the mattress so I can continue this righteous fight!".

For the most part it'll work too. People are so stupid it ain't even funny.

Imagine what could actually get done if none of this went on.

I like the idea of strengthening the 10th, and I get that this idea is mostly a symbolic gesture, but I'm not a fan of government sponsored religion.

Don't see the connection between this and "radical constituents" though

    LOL...sorry, couldn't resist!

I can PM you some links to forums I visit. They call this "red meat" for the base and it's highly effective. That group will give money/donate time zealously for politicians they think "get it".

FWIW both sides are like this; in this particular case it's the Right.
