My observation prior to the draft was that if we were going to pick a project why not go with the guy (Drummond) who might be the next Dwight Howard instead of the guy who might be the next Gerald Wallace but I certainly had no problem with them going with MKG over Drummond since prior to the draft it appeared MKG had a much greater chance of achieving his ceiling than did Drummond.
Having said that mouthful, I still feel good about the MKG pick. I think he looked lost at times but he also flashed moments of brilliance. We seemed to be artificially limiting his minutes, whether due to him being a rookie, or his injuries, or as part of the tank plan, and that appeared to hurt him a little but it is clear he will eventually be, at a minimum, a very good player and possibly a borderline great one.
Drummond would still be my second pick but I am happy with MKG.
