Both Millsap, Haslem, & Hayes are HUGE thought. They have the body of big man but just not the height. MKG looks nowhere near 235 he's pretty skinny. He wouldn't last long at the PF, just too little.
Gilchrist is fine, there's a lot to be said for strong perimeter defenders - Tayshaun Prince has been contributing to contenders for a decade now and there isn't a team in the league that wouldn't have wanted him. I haven't changed my tune since I got here - get an elite scorer and another 18-20 ppg guy between the 2 and 4 positions and you're fine with MKG and Biz in the starting lineup (assuming Biz develops to where he can anchor a contenders' defense).
SOMEONE will pay for THIS!
of course i think we can all admit we have to wait before making any final judgements, but ive watched pretty much every minute he has played and there are some good and bad things to note.
-future elite defender. everytime MKG has his hands straight up, up close against his man. seeing 100% effort on D, especially on this team, is really encouraging. we will at least have a guy to throw at the other teams best guy.
-athletic. see the detroit dunk
-hustle. this kid has too much hustle. almost broke down mid season because he was too busy getting hurt on hustle plays.
-youth. im 20 and sure wouldnt say i am at my peak, and idt MKG thinks he isnt going to improve.
-jumpshot. prob the ugliest thing i have ever witnessed. literally everytime he pulls up, i get sick in my stomach. we can only pray that his work ethic in the offseason can help it. the only scary thing is that the form is just 100% wrong. the hitch, the release on the way down, never sqaures up to the basket, it will be a project for years. not just something he can change with a few seasons.
the only other con i think of is his draft position.
the question really is whether he was worth the 2nd overall pick. at a glance from this first season, i would still say yes. the only other pick that might have been Drummond. but lets be honest, nobody knew that he was going to pan out the way he did.
i am a bit uncomfortable with drafting a hustle, defense guy with the #2 pick, but maybe MKG develops beyond that. and if the final goal is a title, i think MKG might even have more potential value then say someone like Rudy Gay(obviously more talented, but a chucker who wont be the best player on a champion team)
I trust Cho they we took the absolute 2nd best player available in the draft, if he even wanted to choose him despite his jumpshot and somewhat limited offense.

You trash Biz quite a bit on here as not good enough, and now you're "right about Drummond" ?
Into the crevasse!
