cant believe how weak the SG position is.....
i think the sg ranking was the easiest for me. the poing guard ranking was very hard and there was about 2 honarable mention point guards that i felt could be at the 10 spot.
1.kobe- kobe game gets better as he gets older. just when you think he lost a step ,he starts dunking on players . kobe had his most efficient year as a pro this year and played his heart out to bring the lakers back into the playoff picture. kobe went in to 3 stages this year; he went into the jordan phase and took over games , the magic johnson stage where he was damn near avg an triple double a game and prime kobe where he was feeding the bigs and getting his at the same time . kobe is a timeless wonder.
2. harden- he such a smooth player ,and is one of the most aggressive penatrators in the lg. harden gets his whole team involved while getting his at the same time. the only thing that worries me about harden is that he is one of the most turnover prone players in the lg .
3.wade- wade would of been 2nd on the list but he's so injury prone that without lebron they may have not made the playoffs two years in a row. wade is still an elite player despite having 35 yr old knees but he makes it work somehow.
4.ginobli- i think he is one of the most perfect players the lg has ever seen. he's james harden before james harden(if that makes sense). i would rank him higher but he played the majority of his career at 6th man and was injury prone. manu is the shaq of sg's meaning he is mainly rested throughout the season and unleashed during the playoffs.
5. joe johnson- although he had a very avg year, you cant erase the previous 7 great seasons he had. i would need to see one more avg season before moving him down. like i mentioned with deron, there is an adjustment to be made when playing with another primary ball handler. i hope to see him bounce back at least with an 18-19 ppg next yr to solidify his status again.
6.jr smith- i was tempting to put hendo here but im trying not to be bias .i always felt jr was an top 20 talent but he had that westbrook syndrome . jr had an horrid shot selection but is now more controlled . jr possess pg skills with elite guard rebounding skills, and he isnt an liability on defense .when jr is hot he's an top 5 player ,when he's cold he's not even an top 50 but his good games outweigh his bad games.
7. hendo- hendo has one of the most perfect jumper games in the lg and to add ,he is one of the best post up sg in the lg which is the hardest skill to learn in basketball. hendo has improved every year in every category . dunlap almost stunted hendo's progress by giving him bad mins and trying to make him play the stretch 2 guard role but quickly found out that hendo was his best player for the last 3 months and avg 18 ppg in that period. hendo is good defender, strong rebounder and he's one of the most unselfish players who plays along the side of a scoring pg and still found his shot ,which is hard to do.
8.monta ellis- the best undersized shooting guard in the lg. he is a defensive liability and i think he is better suited at point along the side of a defensive minded sg like an thabo or tony allen type, that way he can play his game and not be singled out on defense.ellis is a score first guard but possess good pg skills . ellis could be higher if put in the right situation.
9.demar derozan- he is just an scorer at this point and at 6'7 220 , you would think his rebounding numbers would be better. demar defense is suspect and he doesnt offer much in the assist department. demar is a true shooting guard but i feel he's so young that he can and will improve in other areas.
10. jamal crawford- crawford is an elite scorer still and its hard to realize that he's a journeyman but he's so good? i guess its because he's a one-dimensional player at the age of 33. if your only good at one thing i guess it makes you expendable but crawford is still a starter for majority of the lg.
honarable mention- tony allen- one sided player but great at what he does, tyreke evans -dont know what position to put him at but he still wouldn't make the top 10 pg,sg,or sf, klay thompson- is very streaky and one sided(may be a future jamal crawford without the handles).
side note: i consider iggy a sf because he is a career sf. mayo had a pretty bad year, not to mention vince carter grossly out played him.

cant believe how weak the SG position is.....
Hendo is not a top 10 SG, but I appreciate your homerism!
anybody please join if you feel these guys are better and why?
tyreke is an good player but he's a better point guard or small forward then shooting guard. tyreke has gotten worse every year, and he's probably held a basketball since 8 yrs old and still can't shoot. being an scorer isn't tyreke game ,he's more a facilitator than scorer. both equally good rebounders. hendo is a far superior defender and he's an added bonus as an weak side shotblocker.
i would say mkg can do everything that tyreke can do ,maybe better. i don't think tyreke could of done what hendo did with the bobcats ,especially with a score 1st pg,less talent and horrid coaching.
i had klay on my fantasy team( i came in 2nd) and was horrid , very streaky player who had some real bad weeks for me. klay thompson is not that good of a player. he's a shooter and a only a shooter, he just happens to be a young shooter. there are maybe 50 shooter in the lg ,so that doesn't make thompson special. thompson is very slow with the ball and he can't beat his man which the end result is him forcing many bad shots. klay couldn't be a go to scorer because he doesn't drive, he only avg 2 free throw attempts a game(that is bad). he's an ok rebounder . he can't create for himself or others but he avg more to's then hendo ,who was doing both.he's defense is very suspect because his lateral movement sucks.
to start this off , gordon is highly injury prone and may never be the player he once was with clippers. eric gordon is an scorer but he doesn't have an consistent mid-game and his 3% is almost avg . gordon is a scorer because he's an unguardable iso player which causes him to shoot alot of free throws. gordon is an great athlete but he doesn't offer much in the rebounded department. although he can break the defense down , his assist numbers are kinda low for a tweener and he's super turnover prone. gordon is another player who doesn't fit well with just anybody, i've seen ppl knock monta ellis on here but ellis is way better than gordon.
oj mayo ,oh how i hate oj mayo. first off he's an ok player , not even a starter to me. i also had him on my fantasy team and he went crazy the first 2 months then reality hit. mayo was horrid for 3 months and i couldn't find a trade partner. i thought i could sucker someone because oj mayo's name alone is still living off his high school phenom and college days . i thought i had a trade for chandler parsons but dude looked at the season stats and declined after giving much thought. besides fantasy sports he just sucks, once dirk returned he turned into a role player and his mindset changed. there is an article on how rick just gave up on him. he sucked with grizz, mavs, and now he's on his way to his 3rd team( there is a theme here). he shot good from the field from this year but those stats were from the beginning of the year because he went from avg 20 points to 15 and he became more of pg for the mavs and once again he's another sg with very high turnovers.

I tend to agree with GIT on that group.
Hope Resurrected: "I think I can bring an attitude to a team as far as, ‘All right, no matter what, we are not losing this game'." - Kemba Walker
"Its okay to be bad; just so long as you're bad ass." - Keetch
"I don't care if he uses a sophisticated pulley and tackle system to get his shot off if the bitch goes in."-Mustachio
I'm pretty surprised myself to say that is actually a decent list from GIT.
No doubt you could argue for cases such as Evans or Gordon (assuming he can even get on the court), or perhaps Mayo's stellar 2 months before he washed out again.
However yeah, it is rather decent. Surprising.
