Oladipo article (wash post)
Oladipo is decidedly high on my list this draft b/c it's not a great draft for swinging for the fences. If Noel is off the board, Oladipo is arguably the top of the plan B, with McLemore. Unlike McLemore and other players, I think Dipo is a sure fire double in a draft full of strike outs and singles. This draft sucks. Don't let people fool you just because they're just trying to humor themselves.Oladipo is also seeking that edge and doing whatever it takes to separate himself from the pack. Noted for his notorious drive, Oladipo famously used his key card at the gym at Indiana so much for workouts that it stopped working and forced him to get a replacement. He would go to the gym for late-night training sessions – after watching West Coast NBA games conclude after midnight.
“I’m just abnormal,” said Oladipo, who also took 19 credit hours his final semester in order to graduate in three years. “I’m a weird dude. I’m not going to lie to you.”
Random Bobcat's fan: "This draft isn't that bad." *wrings hands nervously*
Nope, it sucks worse than a frozen milkshake. So when the draft gives you lemons, you take the lemon with the insane motor and athleticism and move on. His perimeter game isn't polished, true, but at the very least you're gonna have 3 players (Kemba, Dipo, and MKG) that can put their respective defenders on skates and wreak havoc on defense and create turnovers. That doesn't suck. If Kemba continues to improve his shot and MKG finds some semblance of one that should be enough shooting to be semi-respectable. Dipo is another high work ethic guy that should not have trouble finding a competent NBA shot. The odds of that happening are better than McLemore igniting a fire in his belly.
Bobcat's long term: In the NBA you are always going to have value if you can play great defense. Because of that, I think Oladipo is a safer asset to add than McLemore b/c down the road he might be easier to trade for need than a shooter with shaky handles (especially if that shooter has lost his confidence, easy to do when you're playing for the hapless Lolcats (see, Morrison, Adam)).
