As alluded to on another thread I'd like to get into a discussion on Len, specifically his ability (or lack there of) to hold position in the low post.
Aside from his medical situation, which is a significant worry, his lack of anchor is the only reason I don't have him at the top of my Bobcat Big Board.
Looking at Draft Express' scouting report, aside from his injury, his weakness can all be explained by this lack of ability to anchor. His Unpolished Offensive game, his Inconsistent Intensity and his lack of Strength & Toughness. For me it all comes down to him not being able to hold position in the low post, on offence or defence.
His back to the basket game is heavily based on a level of agility and movement that most 7ft guys simply can't pull off. This is obviously impressive, however he is forced into these intricate movements because he can't back anyone down. So to my mind his lack of anchor results in a more intricate but less efficient low post game. He is making life much harder for himself because he can't bang with Bigs.
That is where I believe his softness tag, his inconsistent intensity tag etc come from.
I'd like considered opinions and reasons to be optimistic on Len in the post, because the idea of missing out on a skilled 7ft'er who might just develop into a true Big man really worries me. But from what I have seen I don't have much, if any, confidence that he'll become that guy.
