i have basically stopped watching football. i follow it but it is too slow, games take too long and it is so far beyond what i played that i don't enjoy it enough.
one easy solution:
allow bump and run to 10 yds. the reason there are so many more catastrophic collisions is that everyone is zipping around at full speed. allowing contact for the first ten yards drastically slows the receivers across the middle on the short and intermediate passes.
2. actually test for drug use. bigger faster players = bigger collisions. it is kind of ironic that the same players who used drugs for years to get bigger/stronger/faster and now suing because it caused massive injuries.
3. stop protecting the qb as much. the qb knows they won't get hit so they hold the ball longer allowing for faster top speeds in the secondary.
4. call interior holding at the line of scrimmage more by the book. gives the qb less time and makes plays less likely to develop at the mid secondary crossing level.
