But doesn't being such a bottom feeder end up making it harder to get Free Agents to come here?
Exactly. If we land a Wiggins or Parker type, there are now the makings of a true contender. Cap space available and a rebrand the following year. Signing Jefferson could potentially squash all of that. Not that I hate Al Jefferson, but this just isn't the right timing or fit.
I wouldn't mind the Al Jefferson signing...Definitely if it was a 2 or 3 year deal, allows him to return to the market at 31, and gives us some talented, veteran experience. I know people want to tank to get a good pick, but I personally can't stand tanking. And obviously the draft lottery is not kind to us as we've seen over all our years. I don't see it changing. I also don't see Al Jefferson making us a 7-8 seed...we we're a 21 win team last season, not a 9-10 team fighting to get in. We need a lot more than Al Jefferson to get us to the playoffs.
Others may want to tank, but the draft is no guarantee, especially for us. Kemba has turned out well so far, everyone else has pretty much sucked compared to where they were picked. We have never drafted an all-star before, so we definitely cant count on the draft to get us there. I'm tired of wanting to tank ever year, I'd trade in an 8 spot for another tanking year that gets us nowhere.
Since we've came into the league, we've had 1 season, our playoff season where we weren't in the bottom 10. That's 8 OF 9 SEASON TANKING! 4 of those 8 we were in the bottom 4 in the league...Where has it gotten us? Absolutely no freaking where.
Yeah losing is frustrating but we're immune to it at this point. But making signings like these to become a 7/8 seed won't end our frustrations. We don't even need Wiggins, just another top 5 talent and we're on our way. Al takes us out of the running for all of that.

I know the fans want Wiggins next year in the draft but haven't you seen how the Cats-Hornets don't have much luck with the draft? The team could tank next year & still not get the first pick. Having one of the worse records in the league hasn't worked for this team in the draft so far. If they can build a solid team & then take the picks (whatever number they happen to be) in the next draft & make the team even better. I don't think we can ask for more than that.
