I also actually believe Clifford will be able to make this team good defensively, unlike Dunlap. Cliff and Ewing both have extensive experience in defensive coaching.
And for the record, I still don't think we're signing him. Everyone I've talked to has said that they don't think so, and that if the signing is happening, it's being kept in a very tight circle, which wasn't the case with the Jefferson signing.
I think the best idea is to hopefully let Hendo play out his QO and bang out a contract during the season to make sure he's worth the money, or so a sign and trade for something profitable. Doesn't even have to be a SG. Make it picks and we'll just rotate JT, Gordon, and perhaps a UFA or two in that third spot. That'll help us lose games.
I was mostly just saying the Ellis signing wouldn't be the end of the world. But given the options laid out, it's still the one I'd choose last.
"When my time on Earth is gone, and my activities here are past, I want to be buried upside down so my critics can kiss my ass."
"i cant play with one of the best PGs in the league because he is small"
>goes to play with worse small PG
now he is willing to play next to a SG who only plays PG because he is small? Kemba might have developed his passing even further who knows? But anyone who watches knows that kemba is always looking to attack first. Maybe he changes that now that we actually have an offense that doesnt make me want to cause self-harm....or maybe it is just a disaster like in MIL.
what is our FO doing.....
im just gonna close my eyes and trust that Cho knows what is best. but from here it looks like MJ has activated operation:WIN NOW IM A WINNER I DONT LOSE.
Frankly, I'd rather have Ellis over Junior at this point, since Ellis is an obvious short-term solution, while I'm worried they may end up giving Junior a long-term contract though he is a short-term solution at 2 as well.
Also, let's be careful not to overestimate Junior's defense. It's gotten better over the years and is better than Ellis but it isn't a particular strength of his game, night in and night out.
Ultimately though, I expect Monta will make games more exciting while adding to the loss total, which is win-win for me.
"The Charlotte Hornets name has been a mainstay throughout the region for many years, and we are excited to announce our intention to re-establish this historic brand. We believe that its return will galvanize our fan base by unifying our loyal Bobcats fans with those who have strong memories of our city's NBA predecessor." MJ, 5-21-13
We shouldn't sign Ellis because he is a 6th man, combo guard, high volume shooter who is not a good defender. The fact that he also 'wants' big $ and a longer term deal means he should not even enter into our continuousness. (I appreciate you specifically mentioned 'short term' TheBeagle, but I don't see him playing ball there)
I was against AJ, but can see some merit in his signing (if not in it's timing) but Monta would be a joke of a signing.
If Hendo won't sign a fair deal, and $7m is the absolute ceiling, then either S&T him or play him as our 6th man under his QO and see what a year of NBA experience has done to Taylor's confidence (because Jeff's skill-set is what we need at the 2).

Wasn't Monta suppose to decide his destination by now?
the only thing that may be different is that monta just found out he isn't nearly as pretty and popular as he thought. maybe it dawns on him that he needs to play a different, less selfish brand of basketball. or, more likely, he goes the other direction and tries to score 25pts per game on 30 shots.
don't misunderstand, i want him nowhere near this team, but if ownership feels we need a more exciting brand of suckage and we can get him on a very movable deal, i guess i could not commit fan suicide over it.
but, if we lose out on a top 5 pick this year, i may be done.

Monta Ellis and Mavericks closing in on a three-year deal that could rise to as much as $30 million. Deal on course to be completed today
