the day before the draft lottery selection IMO...
Lurking and judging you since 2008
Check out The Lottery Mafia!
I'm with you Kat: The transition will be bittersweet. It's awesome that a wrong will be righted to some degree (we better keep the classic logo though!) but at this point, going into the 10th season, I've been a Bobcats fan longer than I was ever a diehard Hornets fan. I always pulled for the Hornets and thought the '93 run was amazing but I was more of a Hawks fan 'til they traded Nique in '94 and busted out of the playoffs. Fuck you, Babcock....FUCK. YOU.
'96 was when I became a diehard Hornets fan and would watch every televised game and try to get my dad to take me to as many games as was possible. I'll never forget how awesome it was when Kenny Anderson lead us to the biggest upset in franchise history taking out the Bulls and preventing them from having an historic perfect 41-0 home record that year.
Great memories, and though they likely won't be part of our "official" history....they are part of us as Charlotte fans which is more meaningful anyway.
But yeah, I cherish my Cats and will rep gear for years to come along with my Hornets swag.
"The Charlotte Hornets name has been a mainstay throughout the region for many years, and we are excited to announce our intention to re-establish this historic brand. We believe that its return will galvanize our fan base by unifying our loyal Bobcats fans with those who have strong memories of our city's NBA predecessor." MJ, 5-21-13
dont worry ziggy...i already registered brevinknightissexy.com too in case we decided on that one as well
I am glad to see the name Bobcats go. I am not a Charlotte native having been born in Indiana but I was a Hornets fan because my dad is a UNLV alum and was a huge Larry Johnson fan so I was raised going to sportsbars to watch the Hornets play. I still remember clearly the days of Muggsy, Scotty Burrell, Eddie Jones, Zo, Dell, RumealRobinson, Hersey Hawkins, Brickowski and of course Grandma-ma! From everything I heard about Bob Johnson isthat he was a scumbag and I will be glad for his name to forever be gone from Charlotteand the Carolinas.
I actually liked this rebrand that the Bobcats initiated last season, but I'm not going to be sad to see it go. I can't wait to see these guys in teal and purple. I'm mostly just ready for the culture to turn around... "Bobcat" has been synonymous with losing for the past decade, and I'm just ready to put it behind us.
I'll cheer my ass off for the team in this last season of the Charlotte Bobcats, but I'll also cheer my ass off as the last second of this coming season ticks down and we become known as the Hornets again.
"When my time on Earth is gone, and my activities here are past, I want to be buried upside down so my critics can kiss my ass."
I will not miss the Bobcats for a single second. This franchise is and always should have been the Charlotte Hornets.
