It depends on who the base line up is, and what we have to give up. For instance our young assets like Kemba, Taylor, MKG, Zeller and Biyombo are players we should look to keep. At least Kemba, MKG and Zeller could become the base in the starting line up, and Taylor and Biyombo off the bench is decent rotation. To give up one or a combination of them, plus draft picks or other players, would have to see us get someone who can offset that loss of depth - ie a star. It would be nice to have Westbrook, but that isn't happening. Personally I'd rather we keep our assets and use next season's free agency to land a big name free agent. For me that is most likely when MJ will make his move.
My reason for next season is because as it stands we are still in contention for a decent lottery pick, and perhaps one of the top ones if our beloved bobcats meet their usual expectations. That means we could grab up to three more decent players into this team, and perhaps if we have a top two pick Wiggins or Parker could come our way. With that in mind I'd rather we stack ourselves with talent, develop them, than give them away for a borderline player like a Rudy Gay or Josh Smith type. If we could land a true star, great; but equally FA could be quite lucrative next off season.
