What are everyone's thoughts on the Bobcats beat writers specifically Bonnell?
Does anyone follow him on Twitter. I've noticed when people ask him questions, he comes back with smart ass answers and can never take a joke. But...he is one of the few that supply a good amount of Bobcats info.

SOMEONE will pay for THIS!
I like Roberto gato's site and I also like Conner Boyd on bleacher report.
i don't mind bonnell. i would like for him to do more in-depth team strategy, player or behind the scenes stuff though. for all the reasons dnb listed, it is nice to know that if he reports it, it is fact not internet "sources". if i were him, i would be using my access to provide coverage about the team that nobody else has.
Bonnell does my head in, smart ass like other said. I tweeted him complaining about starters not playing in summer league and me staying up till 1am and he wrote "@rick_bonnell: @jamesplowright I'd file a lawsuit."
Literally fuck off you naked mole rat.
yes...that is exactly the type of stuff that i'm talking about. true he has embraced social media but he often comes across as an ass. their are a lot of people that ask him questions like that and he almost always gives a smug answer.
also, yeah he only puts out valid stuff but his sources should only be from the team so anything he gets should have a lot of validity to it or at least was well considered. quite frankly the amount stuff that is spread to people, not in charlotte, makes it seem like the bobcats brass are not a fan of his either.
I don't mind Bonnell and he actually asks very good questions to players/coaches etc. but anytime any rumor come out about the bobcats he is usually the last one to report/know about it. That isn't the way it is with a lot of other beat writers
I'm probably the only one who thinks Rick Bonnell has a great sense of humor.
I go back and forth on Bonnell. I do appreciate that he isn't a rumor monger, but I wouldn't say he's "embraced" social media. To me its obvious that he would never get on twitter if the observer didn't make him.
I don't mind his actual reporting, but I think he should be a columnist rather than a beat guy. I just have always gotten the impression that he could care less about the Bobcats and that reflects onto the general readers of the Observer. If the beat guy doesn't give a rip, why should the readers? While the demand is obviously greater, I know some NFL beat guys that hardly sleep. If their team pops up on twitter in the middle of the night, they are up reporting and discussing. Thats just never gonna be Rick.
Ideally, the Observer would hire a younger beat guy that truly enjoys fan interaction on social media, and understands that thats how it is now, rather than apathy and disdain for having to be there.
Into the crevasse!
