Figured i would try to spice the forum up lol.
Title might confuse you, but basically out of all the players in the league..who are the best players that are underrated?
If I did this thread a couple of years ago I would say the New Orleans CP3 was highly underrated.
In my opinion: Kevin Love and KD.
Kevin Love averaged 26 and 13 in the 2011-2012 season. In the 2012-2013 season he averaged 18 & 14 even with a hurt hand. He is the best big man in the league in my opinion, clearly the best rebounding one and arguably the best 3 pt shooting big in the league also. Unlike Dwight Howard he can score inside and out and averages the most ppg as a big man. He's extremely underrated just bc he's in minny.
Kevin Durant - LeBron is overshadowing the crap out of him. KD's #'s are ridiculous, 50-40-90 at almost 7 foot tall is amazing while also averaging 28 ppg, 8 RPG, 4 APG, 1 BPG, and one steal per ball game. The guys numbers are insane once lebron starts to decline (which won't happen anytime soon) KD will be praised.
Jr Smith- do I really have to say why..? 2013 playoffs.
Blake Griffin - if you didn't watch basketball you would think this guy was the best player in the league by the highlights and the commercials this guy is in. If you would of asked me what Blake would be averaging in his 4th year in the league based on his rookie showcase I would of told you around 25 PPG, 14 RPG and 5,6 APG. Unfortunately Blake's numbers have gone down year by year, free throw percentage is still terrible, and has yet to develop a mid range jump shot. Don't get me wrong Blake is really good now, but his potential is through the roof, if he doesn't maximize it and just lives off of stupid dunks he's just going to become wasted talent.

Lets start by saying Kobe Bryant is the most overrated player in the NBA (at least at this point of his career). I agree with you on the Blake Griffin part; although he is very good in transition and is nearly unstoppable at the rim, he isn't very effective from mid range. But it's a bit harsh to look down on him like that. Griffin was the Clippers no. 1 option on offense that first year; he could have taken 40 shots a night if he wanted and the only complain he would get is that he could have dunked few more times. after his rookie year they got Paul and they started winning, that's probably why his numbers went down a bit. anyway; back to the list.
I'll start of with the overrated players, no surprises here (other than Kobe):
- Jeremy Lin:
He had a good season with the Knicks, a team that really favors point guards (look at RayRay's numbers). this year he played more minutes, produced less.
- Damian Lillard:
I'm not saying he ain't good, but he ain't that good. He had himself a good rookie year, but he isn't Chris Paul yet.
and now, the moment you've been waiting for; the underrated players:
- Kawhi Leonard:
Their best draft pick (I know the Pacers originally drafted him, but the Spurs wanted him more in the end) since Duncan. and I think he will make the all-star team next year.
- George Hill:
Best defensive point guard out there, you can't argue with that.
- Chris Bosh:
Don't laugh at me. Bosh gets a lot of criticism because he doesn't score as much with Miami as he used to do with Toronto. [strike]I think[/strike] I know he could easily go 22/10 a night if he would go back to the Great White North.
Paul George is remarkably above average. Guy went from being underrated to amazingly overrated. Everyone loves to talk about his play in the Miami series but no one wants to talk about the Atlanta and New York games. Not to mention he didn't do much outside of defense during the regular season.
Also.... ayee i'm from bull city too..around what area do you live? not trying to get too personal just seeing if we're closer.

I am glad you included Lillard as overrated. He had a good yr for a rookie, yes, but he only played one end of the court.
In terms of underrated, I think you have to include Tim Duncan. Sure, there are some people that have him as the best power fwd ever but the fact that more people don't is a crime. Even at his "old" age (equal to mine) he's a force.
I think John Wall is very, VERY underrated. If he can stay healthy and ball out like he did the second half of last season he is going to be recognized as a top tier PG.
Overrated: Harrison Barnes. He got a crazy amount of hype from a nice playoff run after not doing very much the entire regular season.

He is a stat padder, if you watch him play you would see he isn't a franchise player. Yeah he puts up great numbers but he doesn't play defense and his team is always in the lottery. He is like a younger Zach Randolph without the attitude. He puts up great stats but he doesn't impact the game with wins. I can't call him the best bigman in basketball when he never led his team to the playoffs.
Would you seriously take Kevin Love over Dwight Howard or even Tim Duncan?
I agree with Blake Griffin being overrated, that dude is over hyped as hell. He is a great dunker but he really needs to work on his offense. People compare him to Karl Malone is just ridiculous, Malone had a jumpshot, Blake doesn't. Oh and don't get me started with his flopping. He has all these commercials and hasn't accomplished anything to deserve them. I just don't like Blake Griffin at all, I hate floppers.
