I'm moving towards making the playoffs ( no matter the seed), hoping Detroit keeps their pick this year, and we have a 1st rounder with the PDX pick.
That way this summer we have 20 million in cap space and next summer we have the potential of the #2 OA pick in the 2015 draft depending on how bad Detroit is and our own pick.
If we were able to get a power forward who could push McRoberts to the bench (which would add to our legitimacy as a serious team and give our second unit a huge boost) and a guard who is a ranged threat, I think we'd be in a great position.
We don't even need to make a huge splash. Guys like Gary Neal, Jeff Green, and Taj Gibson are available and I don't think we'd need to buy high/lose a lot of assets to get any of them.
One thing I've started to notice, which has coincided with Al's juggernaut stretch (maybe he needs a nickname besides just Big Al), is that the team is starting to show some confidence.
Other than the Phoenix game (which to be fair was their third game in four nights, all in different cities), they came out strong, and expected to win all their games during this road trip. I mean last night, they went into the bay and just knew they were gonna beat the warriors. They just held the high scoring "Splash Brothers" to their lowest shooting percentage since 2004.
Maybe something has finally clicked. Maybe knowing that Al has their back, they don't have to force anything crazy. Last night, Hendo was taking much better shots - his fadeaways were within 10 feet instead of his normal 20. Kemba was focusing on facilitating instead of forcing up shots, and even sessions has toned it waaaaaaay down from the beginning of the year.
I don't know if Al can keep it up, but I don't see anything extremely lucky or hot about his game either - it seems pretty natural to put up 25 and 12. Sometimes, if you have solid pieces around, all it takes is one great player to bring it all together. And with Kemba getting back to form, maybe we have two.
Game and a half out of sixth. Two games behind the suddenly-struggling Hawks for fifth. Just saying.
We are now 1 game out of the #5 seed. That's right... 5.

Some time's this year I felt like I was the only one that was anti tank . I wanted our guys winning from day one and never give in to the draft pick hype . Not that I didn't like those young college guys . But pro ball is the best of the best . And I think it's tons of quality in the whole first round . Smart drafting is the key .
Agreed dav7z... Plus, this draft has 5 clear-cut franchise players, and then a huge group of fringe franchise players/all-stars. A player you take at 15 in this draft, would probably go top-8 in another draft year. That's why we had the Detroit and PDX picks in our back pocket and made our owned pick not as big of a loss if we gave it to Chicago. Yes, 3 picks > 2 picks, but with the drool factor of this draft, we would only be able to move up so far by packaging picks.
