He really needs to change his form to be a decent shooter.
That said I think he is already a very good two way player. He is just a better then average garbage man at this point on offense. MKG is mature enough as a player to not shoot a ton of jumpers. His has a .47 FG%.
Other teams can play off him some. It puts pressure on Zeller and McBob to space the floor more. It isn't 4 on 5 though. MKG will go get a rebound it left unguarded, he just can't really drag a defender away from the basket with the threat of a jumper.
Watching the games other teams still guard him on the perimeter anyway even when maybe they shouldn't. Maybe they are smart not to give him enough space to get a head of steam on a drive even though he can't pull the jumper.
If you go to the games you would see they just go far enough out to keep from getting a D3. If they pass him the ball, the D still lays off 4 to 6 foot so he can't drive. That's why in my last post I said, I would like to see him post up more . May be move AL out to about 12 foot away and let MKG post up 5 or 6 times a game .. By doing that I think it would create his scoring and give him some confidence.Ill Bet you guys any thing,,,,, his shot looks tons better in practice. Me I never said this would be a easy fix . And im not saying he's a bust or even close to it. All im saying is he would be better served in a back up roll . And or being a defensive stopper.
There's a place in this league for garbage men . Clifford I hope can find ways to keep him more involved . Like someone said his shooting % isn't that bad.

My biggest concern with with MKG is his confidence and having the mentality to take over a game with his skills. When I watch MKG with the ball, I see him pass up the rock way too much...like a kid in a pickup game against adults. Yes he's young, but he needs to realize that he can be the leader and has the skills to run with anyone. Granted, His jumper is one of the worst I've seen, but I think it can eventually become less painful and start going down with regularity. Watching Wallace's line drives go in for the better part of five years was pretty awful too, but he made it work.
i say give him until mid season next year. he doesn't need a three point shot as long as the cats put a deep threat at sg and hopefully an 18 ft shooting pf that is better than mcbob.
he absolutely needs to get rid of the hitch. he shoots it from a position that is not lined up with the rim and the hitch makes it so he shoots on the way down.
what he doesn't need is a three ball. he needs a 45-50% fg from 14 feet. dav is exactly right, the defense just barely is out of 3 sec/illegal d territory when he catches it. his offensive game should aspire to be a guy that is a solid mid range jump shooter (enough to require a closeout) and he uses that to drive into the lane and ultimately end up at the foul line.
if he isn't well underway by next year, i think his ceiling as a sf version of tony allen is much much more likely than any of the other high ceiling guys he has been compared with.
ps: for a terrible shooter, bad form shooter, extremely young player, 2 coaches in two years to break his hand (of all things) a certain level of understanding as to shooting woes has to be extended.
You think we can tell by age 21 or next year?
I hope we start to see progress too but I'm not about to declare a ceiling yet with his age and work ethic.
Hope Resurrected: "I think I can bring an attitude to a team as far as, ‘All right, no matter what, we are not losing this game'." - Kemba Walker

"I don't care if he uses a sophisticated pulley and tackle system to get his shot off if the bitch goes in."-Mustachio
Why give him until,, even if he never gets a jump shot . It's a spot for Allen , Rodman type players . Just with the current personal his game don't fit in well . But if they decide to trade him for value, I have no problem with that either.
