    Default Bobcats 2006-2007 roster

OK, I\'m getting a little bit ahead of myself, but what do you think the Charlotte Bobcats\' 2006-2007 lineup should look like? In my opinion it should look a little like this:

    Starters
    Raymond Felton
    Gerald Wallace
    Adam Morrison or Rudy Gay
    Emeka Okafor
    Primoz Brezec

    Bench
    Sean May
    Jumaine Jones
    Matt Carroll
Bernard Robinson ( Next season its time for him to step up and prove that he is a legitimate NBA player )
    Alan Anderson
    Jake Voskul

    Traded
Brevin Knight ( in 06-07, this needs to be Felton\'s team from the start )
Melvin Ely ( hopefully a sign and trade )

    Released
    Kareem Rush

    Free Agents
Not a lot out there in the 2006 class of free agents

    Heres what it should be:

Starters *** I\'m a fan of starting big lineups as you can tell
    Raymond Felton
    Gerald Wallace
    Sean May
    Emeka Okafor
    Joel Pryzbilla (free agent pickup)

    Bench
    Rudy Gay
    Jumaine Jones
    Matt Carroll
    Alan Anderson
    Jake Voskul
    Melvin Ely
    Primoz Brezec

    Traded
    Brevin Knight

    Released
    Kareem Rush
    Bernard Robinson
    Kevin Burleson

I think I see an early pattern, nobody wants Kareem on the roster next season.:P

Bobcats moves (in order of importance IMO):

Extend and up Wallace\'s contract past \'08 to 4 years (taking him to the end of \'10) at approx $8.5 mill a year.

Sign and trade Ely to the Hornets for JR Smith.

Sign Jay Williams (before anyone else does!!)

Offer Jumaine Jones 3 years at $3 mill a year.

Pick up and extend the option on Carroll\'s contract offering him an additional 3 years at $2 mill a year.

Offer Robinson 3 years (3rd a team option) at $1 mill a year

Sign Baxter to 2 years $1 mill per year

Do not pick up the option on Rush\'s contract and realse him.

    Release Voskhul.

    Release Anderson.

    Release Burlenson

Then when the draft rolls around:
Assuming we land the #1 pick, trade down to someone with two 1st round picks (Bulls, Nets, Blazers or Hornets) and with the 1st pick take who ever is left out of Carney or Brewer and with the 2nd draft a defensive mided 5 like Armstrong or Spliter.

Gives us a line up of:

PG: Felton - Knight - Willams
SG: JR Smith - Carney - Carroll
SF: Wallace - Jones - Robinson
PF: Okafor - May - Baxter
    C: Primoz - Armstrong

If Jay Williams comes along like I think he will, look at trading Knight to a contender for what ever piece we might be missing (a big I\'d say) and have Williams back up Felton at the point full time. I like the idea of trading Knight to the 76\'ers for Hunter and a 2nd round pick. His shot blocking and rebounding along with his youth and athletisim would be nice here.

And here\'s the dream move!! (it wont happen though - UNLESS the Heat some how win the title this year). Sign Zo to end out his career here. Imagine the influence he would have on Okafor and Armstrong?!?!

This is one of 3 paths I have come up with that I would like to see us take and the one that appeals to me the most.

Slam, I like that Jay Williams move if his knee has anything left after that horrible motorcycle accident a few years back. If he can be 85% of the player that he was before, then thats good enough to hold down a backup point guard spot in the NBA.
