If the opportunity is there I think we would be crazy not to jump at it.

Sure the kid\'s attitude has been brought into question, but he is young and impressionable. Bring him into this envrioment with Crash, EO50 and Felts and their hard work will rub off on him.

He was slated to go to UNC before choosing to go pro so teaming him with McMay and Felts would also benefit.

EO50 and JR spent some time together their rookie season filming the NBA Rookies show that aired so there is a connection there too.

SG is obviously our weakest postion and it needs to be addressed. JR might be the answer. At worst, we get a young, cheap SG who might be suited best to play back up SG for us.

At best, we get a young SG who can stroke the 3, has outstanding athletic abiltiy who might find his feet here, hit his groove and develop into a superstar.

I\'d love to see a trade of JR Smith for Melvin Ely (S&T for $6 mil over 4 years). It would suit both teams needs. We would probably have to take a contract with JR to smooth things out (maybe Jackson?) but that would suit me just fine.

The other thing trading for him would do would be create some much needed buzz around the place. We need something to look forward to next season and the potential development of JR on our roster could be the perfect thing

Besides, if we did get JR and he exploded into the player people thought he could be, nothing would please me more than telling Bugboy all about it!!

The only real obsticle (and it could be a huge one) is that he\'s not really a BB type of player. BB suffers no fools and if all the reports about JR are true, I can\'t imagine BB being that keen to take him on

I think thats the thing thats going to keep the deal from happening... Unless Byron Scott just gets so fed up with him, that they are ready to give him away for next to nothing.

The Hornets organization is too smart to let a player like J.R. walk away for nothing, Thats just Bobcats fans wishful thinking.

too smart to make that kind of move huh?, let me think back.

They gave a 6\'5\" power forward with a bad back $84 million.
They skimped on giving Zo the cash and let him leave for Miami.
They drafted J.R. Reid over Tim Hardaway.
They let the Lakers strongarm them out of Kobe Bryant.

I could go on and on and on and on and on, but this is way too easy.

It looks like hes definitely going to be [url/www.nola.com/hornets/t-p/index.ssf?/base/sports-2/114577603043530.xml]shipped out[/url]. Hopefully the Bobcats can position theirselves to get him.

Wishful thinking on my behalf, but imagine if our offseason went something like this:

JR wants out of NO. NO want\'s JR out.
We trade Ely for JR - straight up.

Celtics want a vet PG to lead their young ones.
We trade them Knight and filler for Dickau and their 2006 1st round pick.

    We win the draft lotto.

With the #1 over all pick, we draft Aldridge.

With the Celtics #7 pick, we draft Carney.

    Felton - Dickau
JR Smith - Carney - Carroll - Anderson
    Wallace - Jones - Robinson
    Okafor - May
    Aldridge - Brezec - Voskhul

Wow!! What a team for the now, and the future!!

.....like I said though, wishful thinking!!

:woohoo: That would be a Hell of a lineup. If any of those possiblities happen, it would mean a big talent improvement for the Bobcats.

on a side note: Since you brought up Aldridge, I\'m really curious to see how Aldridge does in his workouts. If hes strong enough and heavy enough to play center, then he\'ll be the #1 overall pick.
