With the core players we got and the contracts with players like ok5o , Ray, May, Morrison, Wallace comeing up i cant see giveing 10 mil a year to any one except a player like a WADE OR James.
But im just thinking long term.
According to the Seattle Post Intelligencer Forward/Center Chris Wilcox is looking for a Nene sized contract, Something in the 6 year / 60 million dollar range.
Do you think Chris Wilcox is worth that much money, And if so, should the Bobcats make a run at him?
We\'re sitting on a buttload of cap space and we need to spend it on somebody.

Hes 24 years old, athletic, can run the court and put Primoz on the bench and play center. I\'d give him 9 or 10 million a year. He doosn\'t(or shouldn\'t) worth that much. If we\'ll have Ely for one more year or send him away, we can make a run at Wilcox. But if we tie Ely to a multi-year deal(which is unlikely), Wilcox is unnecessary.
We shouldn\'t spend on him more than 7 million per year.

Wilcox is NOT worth $10 million a year..........but that wont stop him from getting it.
Nene isn\'t worth $10 million a year and he got it.
It\'s not always about the players skill. The monitary value of a player is usually dictated by a market rate.
Is Salmons worth $5 mill a year?
No
Is Nene worth $10 mill a year?
No
Is Wilcox worth $10 mill a year?
Is Ely worth $6 mill a year?
No, but I bet he get it (or at least close to it).
If the Bobcats could put something together for 9 mill a year for Chris Wilcox, not only would it improve the team, but it would also prove to other NBA players and agents that Bob John$on will unhinge his change purse and cut loose some cash to make the team better. I think proving that is just as important as the player acquisition in this stage of the franchise\'s development.
If hes remotely interested in the Bobcats then I say throw money at him.
Is he worth $10 million a year? No.
Should we make a run at him for $10 million a year? Yes.
Winning games is about who has the most talent that they can put on the court, not who has the most salary cap space.
The Bobcats need to spend some money on some significant free agent signings.
Isn\'t that an oxymoron brother? Is he worth $10 million a year? No.
Should we make a run at him for $10 million a year? Yes.
I mean I dig what you are saying:
I like that line a lot, but just because we have the space I don\'t think we should abuse it by over paying for someone who doesn\'t deserve it.Winning games is about who has the most talent that they can put on the court, not who has the most salary cap space.
Nope, no way. I don\'t think he\'s worth 5. Would we have to sign him for more than a season? Cause next year we have a chance at antwan, and vince. Don\'t want to tie up money and miss out on either one of those. And doesn\'t he play PF? Do we need another big guy? We just signed Harrington, why I don\'t know but we did. With him, mek, may, primo, ely. I mean how many guys do we need to rebound?

Why have all this cap space if we aren\'t going to use it? I don\'t want to go hog wild with it like the New York Knicks did and wreck the cap completely, I\'d just like to use it for a player or two that will actually affect our win-loss column. Kevin Burleson and Othella Harrington are insignificant.I like that line a lot, but just because we have the space I don\'t think we should abuse it by over paying for someone who doesn\'t deserve it.
JonathanMartin7 mentioned the fact that it was a good idea to save some cap space for Vince Carter and Antowain Jamison who are going to be available in 2007, but I think the Bobcats are putting too much stock into their ability to sign one of those 2 ( plus, neither one is getting any younger )
