    Default Curtis Withers in Turkey

Last night I went to our city\'s sports hall to watch Turkish Presidency Cup\'s Final, between Efes Pilsen(you\'ll watch them in the USA on 10-12 October playing versus Nuggets and Warriors) and Alpella.

Before the match I knew none of the players of Alpella team, just knew they have two Americans and rest is full of 16-19 year-old youngsters. They came to pitch, I saw a player named WITHERS, but still didn\'t know him. When PA said Curtis Withers, I was shocked. Bobcats\' Summer League player Curtis Withers was playing for a decent Turkish Team, Alpella.

He played very well against Efes Pilsen\'s powerful frontcourt, scored 18 points. But after 3rd period, he was very very exhausted and had no effect afterwards.

All in all, IMHO he is a good player, but not in the caliber of NBA. But he will be successful in Turkish Basketball League, he showed me that.

He also became the second Bobcats player whom I watched live, although he didn\'t play a single official game(first is Primoz Brezec).

I actually thought that Curtis had a good chance of making the Bobcats roster after seeing him play in summer league. I hope that he gets a year or two of good experience in the Turkish league and then works his way into the NBA.

The only thing holding him back is size.

In his first league match, Withers scored 22 points, grabbed 17 rebounds and also recorded 4 steals. A gorgeous start.

If he keeps that up, he\'ll find his way onto an NBA roster real soon.
