    Default The Best college coaches

To me, they are few and far between.

    Coach K
    Rick Pitino
    Jim Calhoun
    Tubby Smith
    Roy Williams
    Lute Olson
    Bobby Knight

Now. Reason I bring this up is because while we may get a new coach with NBA experience, what if we grabbed someone that was fresh, new, and could develop young players?

I know Pitino didn't have any luck with the Celtics, so we'll stray away from him. I think Jim Calhound or Tubby Smith would be the best choices. Lute Olson will never leave, Knight is a headcase(but would be QUITE entertaining) and would never leave college ball. Coach K did well coaching NBA players but wouldn't leave(and is a duke product - no dukie does well, unless your name is Grant Hill, Elton Brand, or Luol Deng)

I remember reading articles about how he might come here, but those rumors died. I think he would have the best chance of getting promoted here.

In all honesty, I'd rather have Jim Calhoun, and his owning of Duke and prepping for big games

Mr. Carolina Blue Michael Jordan would never hire him, and I truly hate to admit this, but I think Coach K would make a decent NBA coach.

He would be one of the rare coaches tht could come from the college ranks and immediately have the respect of the NBA players.

Jordan would hire Coach K in a second. He's going to be the the coach with the most college victories. At least until Roy catches him. Coach K is an all around great coach does if not then Carolina would be on a 10 game winning streak against Duke cause Carolina has always had the better talent they were just so well coached that he made more out of what he had. So I give the nod to Coach K.

as you stated he won't leave college, neither will Roy, Olson, or Knight. I think that Tubby would leave but I really wouldn't want him as our coach. Pitino......uhhh he's already tried and failed miserably in the nba, but he is an outstanding college coach.
I'd rather get an experienced NBA coach than someone from the college ranks. I'd hope that we could get Paul Silas, or Larry Brown...Yes I'd love to have Larry as a coach. Everybody seems to think that since the Knicks didn't improve and he didn't play his rookies as much that he's not a good Coach. That's just wrong, he's always done a good job where ever he went until he had I. Thomas as a boss.

Coach K. would be great at the NBA level, but I can't wrap my brain around Jordan hiring him. I can't see it happening.

Why not? It's fun to boss dukies around, and it doesn't happen often. I doubt that he'd (MJ) take a Job for a team that was owned by Coach K though.

If big pocket bob johnson wants his team to win, he'd better hire coach K.

Coach K. would be a great hire, but if he turned down the Lakers, I don't see why he would take the Bobcats job.

Only basis I could think of is that it's a Carolina job in his comfort zone.

I was saying that he'd be the best choice that is now a college coach. I agree with Ziggy when he says that Coach K would turn us down. I don't see him ever Coaching in the NBA, not for any team. If we get another coach (let us pray) I hope it's Paul Silas.
