    Default Bobcats Might Seek McInnis

    Charlotte Observer -
The Charlotte Bobcats , in need of a fill-in point guard, have been in discussions with the New Jersey Nets , possibly about acquiring Jeff McInnis, the Charlotte Observer is reporting.

I would much rather target a young project player like Julius Hodge what are you guys thoughts on this possible deal?

Nuggets are also willing to unload Hodge for luxury tax reasons. But he looks as such a problematic player. We should target other youngs.

In current situation, I cannot suggest a better option than McInnis or Banks. Banks' contract is so huge to absorb. But McInnis + 2nd rounder for Ely is OK for me. He's also problematic but in the last year of his contract, hasn't played since Jan. 2006, and wants to re-attract attentions of clubs. That'd be last chance of him. So he'd be satisfied with any role he is demanded.

I'm all go for getting Hodge. I'm a huge NCSU fan, and I loved watching him play when he was there. He'd cause a lot mismatches at the point.

I'd prefer Julius Hodge way more than Jeff McGinnis. Jeff has a tendency to disrupt every team that hes on, and the last thing that we need is chemistry problems.
Also we could get Hodge for next to nothing.

While Hodge would be good, he's unproven. We do need to get a talent boost on the roster though, and either would help, but Hodge has upside. A big reason I'd get Micinnis is that since he is in a contract year, he'd probably play better, and be on his best behavior to attract suitors.

Banks would be nice to have as a stud backup/insurance poilicy. We could get rid of BK after the year or trade him. Having Felton/Banks in the backcourt would be great, and Banks only makes 5mil a year, which isn't HORRIBLE since he was the starting PG for minnesota last year, and is learning under Steve Nash.

Give me Hodge, Mcinnis, Banks, or Conroy if the oppertunity or bargain is there. We at least have options.

Maybe I'm just a pessimist, but I get the feeling that Bob Johnson and company aren't going to choose the best option for a backup point guard, They'll simply choose the cheapest option for a backup point guard.
With that being said, It'll probably be Conroy since they could get him on a 10 day contract really cheap.

I'll be happy with any option. but I'd prefer getting someone with some actual use for more than 10 days; but who knows? Maybe Conroy can become our stud backup and make Brevin expendable. I don't really care who it is, as long as it allows Brevin to become even more expendable. on Felton!

And on another note, what if we signed Jay Williams to a 10 day contract. His upside is tremendously higher than Conroy or any other player in the NBDL or the FA wire..regardless of crash or not. He's a SMART basketball player. It also helps he's a NC college alumni - even if it is the hated Dukies.

I have come to the conclusion that the Bobcats management team is as dumb as dirt.

If they had a brain, they'd be building for the future. This team is never going to be good enough to win without a capable two-guard.

Adam Morrison is a scorer, not a two-guard, in the new mold. This does not affect him.

They need to go out and get JR Smith if they can. Someone young like that who can grow in between Felton (PG) and Morrison (SF), along with them.

Gerald Wallace has been on a scoring frenzy, but the way he scores is not in a way that provides any long-term success for the Bobcats. If they have to get rid of him in order to get someone like JR Smith who can operate within the flow of an offense, instead of scoring (Like Wallace does) when the offense breaks down through rebounds and putbacks only, then I'm all for it.

Going out and getting someone like McInnis is yet another plug that adds nothing long-term to the Bobcats. They aren't going anywhere this year, they need to be constructing a team that can grow together and win in at least 2 seasons. It's never going to happen with the current make up of this team.

They need an athletic two-guard with potential, like JR Smith. Then they can get a center in this year's draft, and they'd have a team that will show dramatic improvement next season, and make the playoffs in 2 seasons.

If they keep the team in the way that it is, with Wallace as the fixture, they aren't going anywhere. Wallace is a grind-it-out player, not a player that scores within the flow of an offense, so you can't really run one with him out there.

I plugged Gerald Wallace for JR Smith into the ESPN Trade Machine and it didn't work out because Denver is over the cap and Crash makes 4 million more than JR. In order for it to work the Nuggets would need to dump one of their big salaries on us too. Nene Hilario maybe?

[/quote] I agree totaly Mcinnis is our best out right now. A 2nd ROUND pick and Mcinnis for our number 10 or 11 th player off the beanch. Plus that also gives us about 3,3 mil more to pick up what our biggest need is next year . As deap as that draft is going to be we could put them 2 2nd round picks toghter move up and and have a good chance of getting a very nice player. THIS TRADE IS A NO BRAINER

    Thanks Ammofan!
