Default Emeka's offense the last 2 games since Ray has been out.

After seeing the number of Shots that Emeka got over the past two games, it made me think of something that Scones said in a post a week or so ago in another thread. Heres the quote:

    Scones
and you can't complain about mek not getting enough shots and glorify raymond at the same time. because raymond is taking more shots than anyone. he too often becomes a me-first pg, needs to be more of a distributor.
I'm a Felton fan, but that along with this quote from Emeka in the morning makes believe that Scones has a legitimate point.

    Charlotte Observer / Emeka
Okafor couldn't help but demand the ball.
"People were actually looking," Okafor said of the entry pass. "I've been open" before.

I can see Scones point I've seen many times were Ray will settle for 3 pointers early instead of moving the ball around.

i really admire the way the bobcats have played the last 2 games without may, felton, and knight. mcinnis and anderson have showed some poise. hopefully it'll rub off on the younger guys!

but it is worth noting that both games were against atlanta. not exactly top-shelf competition, but convincing wins none-the-less. felton just needs to learn when to drive and dish. he has to know that the jumper is going to be available whenever he wants it, but it's not what's best for the team.

yeah felton is a pretty solid pg he needs to sharpen up on a few things to join the nba's elite at the point guard position. but jeff m. and derek a. have been playing good in his absence but once ray-ray gets a few years under his belt he will become a true baller

Yea, we just have to keep in mind that this is his 2nd year, and he's only 21.

I think that having to be the shooting guard for half the season made him look for the shot more.

I would say give him some seasoning and he'll be fine.

interesting correlation here. i think ray is the best option we have at the point right now, but i will admit, when he's shooting jumpers too much, the offense looks pretty bad. it seems like he can get into the lane at will, so i think he should drive 50% of the possesions and either finish and dish to okafor/primoz. the other times we should do post ups for wallace and let morrison/carroll do their thing. he can get his jumper any time, but he's much more effective when driving to the basket. i don't think the offense should be run through okafor, but a few post ups a game for him should be fine.

the offense should absolutely be run through okafor. hes too solid not to be. he is arguably our most dependable player. hes gonna be there on defense, and hes gonna come through on offense. in the two 20 point blowout wins in a row... oak averaged 7 touches a quarter. me and my friends who go to the games with me, say this everytime. there should not be a possesion that oakafor doesnt touch the ball somehow. I like ray, hes got a lot of potential, but he seems a little too confident in his ability. i hate seeing him shoot. he needs to drive more.. kid is great in the lane but needs to work on his finishing.

all in all ive always said and you can look it up... that brevin is a more solid shooter. when brevin has the ball im always confident we wont turn it over and that if he shoots its going in. ive also said that i think we should trade brevin because raymond is very talented and is the future of this team. but oak is the present. he is the hard work and the fundamentals of this team. feed the freak and quit shootin stupid jumpers that hardly fall ray.

I am tired of 6 for 17 nights from Raymond. I do enjoy when he has double digit assist nights. Give him some time. It'll also be nice to have Mcinnis understand his role and actually help him develop as a point rather than Knight who is just fighting for PT.

I believe that 1 & 1/2 years of playing out of position at the 2 instead of his natural position has in a small way stunted Raymond's growth. Hes stuck between thinking like a point and a shooting guard.
