Jerry West has said that he is going to deal Pao Gasol. After firing up the ESPN Trade Checker I came up with Sean May and Gerald Wallace / Pao Gasol. Anytime you can get a 7 foot scoring / rebounding / all-star forward like Gasol, you have to do it. There are 2 problems though.
First Jerry West says that he isn't going to make this deal unless it makes the Grizzlies substantially better. I think this deal would do it, because it gives them a super athletic SF to pair with Rudy Gay at SG and it gives them a more than adequate PF in Sean May.
Second, Pao says that he wants to go to a contender... This is where the sales job will need to come in. We'll need to sell him on what our roster will look like NEXT season. We could have a roster with Raymond, Morrison, Carroll, Pao, Emeka, 1 or 2 lottery picks and an impact free agent. That has to look better than the mess thats the Grizzlies roster.

One other thing that makes this look good from a Bobcats perspective is this trade could really turn out being Sean May and cap space for Pao, because I'm not convinced that Gerald is going to re-sign her this off-season. So if we don't move him, we may lose him for nothing.
