Light themes -vs- Dark themes

Personally, I like dark themed websites, but I've had a few people tell me that the orange text on a dark background is hard on the eyes... What are your thoughts?
I'm contemplating switching to a lighter theme if others also agree.

I enjoy the way it is now. I definitely would not want to have an orange background with black text.

The site looks clean currently, but as 123 said, I haven't seen alternatives.
