Default Rick Bonnell's 5 Bold moves

In the Charlotte Observer today, Rick Bonnell gave his thoughts on 5 bold moves that the Bobcats could make this offseason.

The one that caught my eye was signing Mike Bibby or Chauncey Billups as the team's starting point guard this offseason. I'm not a bibby fan, but Billups on the other hand is a proven big time player.

Bonnell mentions in his article that there are doubts in the Bobcats organization as the whether or not Ray will ever develop into a true point guard.

What are your thoughts on this article in general and the Ray situation in particular?

I thought it was a pretty bold, but good article into letting everyone know the possibilities where this offseason may go.

Raymond has been compared to Allen Iverson in some places I've read on the net, and I think that's accurate in terms of how he tries to play. He leads the team in shots taken, and most of that is due to injury and necessity, but sometimes you wonder about his shot selection. I think once we get some more playmakers after this offseason he'll be all right. When he was at Carolina he wasn't a gunner, he was a distributor because he had the parts that were doing the scoring on a consistent basis. He hasn't had that here so far, but with Gerald developing into a go to guy and Carroll, Hermann, and Morrison capable shooters, and Emeka a decent low post scorer, they're developing. Like some other people have said, I just hope they aren't quick to blow up the core of the team and keep growing towards that consistent winner.

That said, the next coach should be given the opportunity to work with what's here for next season and then be able to have his say so into what happens from there. I don't think we'll see any moves made until that happens, which might not be long after the season ends, since this is a critical offseason and a lot of decisions need to be made in a short amount of time.

I read that artical two it makes no sence for the team in the long run. We need t resign the players we have first . OK50, Wallace, and Carroll, But i wouldnt spend that kind of money for either one of those guys. Dont get me wroung they both great players but i dont think thats the direction the team is going.Weneed to keep the core toghter for at least another year. If any thing draft a combo guard.

    Thanks Ammofan!

i thought most of those moves would be stupid, especially the billups/bibby trade. we would have to give up picks and players to get them and they are both past their prime. the only thing that made sense was the time warner arena haha
