    Default Al Thornton

I know it's a slight reach @ 8, but we may be able to trade down and get this guy. Read this from nbadraft.net:

Strengths: Physically Thornton is a jaw dropper type of athlete Because of the high energy level and aggressiveness Thornton plays with, he draws a good number of fouls from opposing players Has developed his upper body strength well and possesses an NBA ready body Does a great job of getting rebounds out of position thanks to his leaping ability and foot speed Runs the court like a guard Is a threat in transition where he is a tremendous finisher Loves to face-up the opposing defender and blow by them using his length and explosive first step Excellent lateral quickness enables him to be a very good help defender Owns a great set of hands that allows him to catch passes without problem, even bad passes Possesses three point range on his shot Converts with ease around the basket Despite being a senior that is a year older than most he has a load of potential that he has yet to scratch Versatile player who will be a match-up problem for most defenders Has developed into a great free throw shooter

    He's compared to Al Harrington.
Great in transition, matchup problems, great rebounder that can shoot the 3. Good help defender, runs the floor well. Gets to the free throw line, very strong upper body. Converts with ease around the basket and is versatile. That sounds like a bobcat written all over him!!

You're reading my mind Bumpus I just said the same thing 5 minutes ago, since it's a deep draft maybe we can pick up a second round pick and move back to around 11 or 12 and grab Thorton.

I love Thorton's game! he's a great player, we should try and move back and get something else, but if we couldn't I'd just as soon have him as Brewer. I'd probably rather have him seeing as he can help inside more.

I think hes gonna be a decent pro player. But i watched a lot of games with him, and for an old senior he kind of got lost in some big games.

I wouldnt mind it, because he can play the 4 in a suns type offense, but it all depends on what Vincent chooses to do with this team.

personally id say go with brewer if given the chance... i think we are definetly all stocked up at 6 foot 7 inch Small Forward/Power forward with Adam, Gerald, Hermann, and hopefully Jamison. and you cant forget that as hobbled as Seam May could be, he will still be able to serve the power forward spot when needed... so i dont think PF is really a need.

However after Matt and Adam, we got nothin at the SG role. and drafting Brewer could help Ray out some in two ways... Brewer can bring the ball up (Matt/Adam cannot) and with Brewer we never have to worry about Ray playing Shooting Guard. AND brewer is a much better defender...to me its hands down get brewer if hes available.

thornton was tearing up the acc in early march and i think he'll be a steal for whoever picks him. i could easily see 12 ppg 5 rpg in his rookie year

That video is totally sick. Wow.

I believe I'd still take Brewer, but he's projected to go as high as 3rd. I'd like to see how he does in his workouts.

Brewer first, Thornton as a seconday option.

To note Mustachio on depth issues @ SG, Brewer is first choice, and then if we don't get him we'll definitely draft a steal for the SG spot @ 22.

Thornton would be a horrible choice for us. We already have Crash and Thornton pretty much mirrors everything we have in Crash except Crash actually plays hard every single min he is on the court.

I'd rather reach for N.Young at #8 than Thornton if Brewer is gone.

Once again, it was noted that we would be theoretically trading down for Thornton. Nick Young would be a good choice, but I'd rather get a shooter with the 2nd pick, as there are many secondary options, and I'd like to attempt to go all or nothing with the first pick.

Unfortunately there are not many real stud big men in the draft that are attainable. Rather than Thornton or Nick Young, I'd prefer trading up and getting Horford or Jianlian, as none of us seem certain now of who to grab @ 8 if we stay there.
