    Default Yi Bandwagon

Yi is gaining momentum in the draft discussions... hes up to 3 on most draft boards and it looks like the Hawks could take him there, and he definetly wont slip past us at 8.

so my question should we hang tight at 8 and get what falls, and maybe its brewer, maybe its Yi maybe its....Jo Noa... sorry i cant say it all the way.

OR should we hop on this bandwagon that is Yi and trade up to get him.

Boston at 5 needs vets and we dont have any.

Atlanta is the best option, but they got the third pick so that means we will have to lose a little more, AND they are a division rival.

my play would be this. Trade Brevin Knight and the 8th Pick to Atlanta who needs a vet PG and get Yi with the 3rd pick?

    anytakers or better suggestions

If Atlanta took Brevin & 8 for their #3, then I'll drive BK to the airport myself... But if we were to get that 3rd pick I'd lean towards Al Horford.

Back to Yi though, from what little I've seen, he looks good. Really, Really good. Has he worked out for anybody yet? If so, any word on how he looked?

Doubtful of the trade because of division foes. Why make each other better?

You're dead on about us not having enough vets to make a trade for 5.

I'd consider Memphis as they need a point guard pretty bad and maybe that player + 8 would get it done to get the #4, because they could/probably would draft Conley, Law, or Crittenden(depending on workouts)

As long as we can get before Milwaukee who has Corey Brewer written all over him.

Iwould love to have YI . Hes going to be real good. But like Ziggy if i had the 3rd pick i would have to go with Hartford hes going to be bad real bad , mabe the best player in the draft after its all said and done. But if i could move up to the 4th pick Yi is the man but i think Morrison will have to be in any trade we make to move up along with B.K. That might be to much but i would do it .

    Thanks Ammofan!

yea zig thats the reason i started the thread... Yi has had a couple workouts so far... in Boston and somewhere else and Atlanta is working on him as well. Apparently the buzz is getting bigger and bigger.

Chad Ford is calling him the hip hop Yao Ming. Any GM would draft him for the merchandise sales alone. Yi Jerseys in China will be like gold.

my thing with Yi and Horford is those 2 inches. Yis a little longer and taller and more suitable to be in the paint with Emeka i think.

I just dont know how effective two 6'10 guys can be, especially when we are probally stretching the 6'10 number.

i would love to trade with Memphis. they have the 4 i think. and they could use a point guard too really... and wouldnt mind the extra pick either. i say run with it

The team most similar to us is the Toronto Raptors. Chris Bosh is an athletic 6'10" guy, and then they have Garbajosa @ 6'9", or Bargnani @ 6'10" as well.

The raptors are by far the most similar team to us in terms of youth, style of play (expected of us this year), PG play, and a bright future.

You can also point out Utah (Okur is 6'11 and Boozer is 6'9), The pistons (Wallace - 6'11, Webber 6'9), and there are some other teams with smaller front courts that are successful. The big thing on them is that they have stellar guard play from both positions.

I say if we have a touch of Raptors play with some Mavs play we would be very effective.

I've been stuck on Draftexpress.com all day, but get this they have Yi going at 10! no way he slips that far. He could break a leg and still go in the top 5.

Pretty unbelieveable. I'd give him a shot @ 8 unless something amazing happens and one of the other untouchables or doubtfuls falls to us.

I think Yi will be really really good. I'd take him over Horford, but only because we need a big that can score. I read in an article that Vincent want's us to be a strong defensive team. So if we do trade up and get the 3rd or 4th pick then I think he would take Horford over Yi.

if we get horford or Yi... we will be one happy franchise.]

either way,... your not doing bad.

id personally like to draft Yi, because of the upside, and the marketability. we would get more coverage with a 7 foot chinese dude that listens to rap, speaks english well and dunks on people. hes like a cool, more marketable Yao ming.

plus with Vincent having mostly international experience as a head coach ... and assistant coaching on a team with a 7 foot international star... i just see more happening there. it seems like a good fit... but gettin him is the problem. no way he last to 8.
