that is exactly how i felt after reading that...the charlotte observer sucks! Tom Sorenson is a joke
In today's Observer Tom Sorenson lists the top 25 things in the sports world that make him sick. Number 3 on that list was message boards. Heres what Tom had to say:
What Tom and the rest of the sports writers over at the Observer fail to realize is that boards like this exist and are growing primarily because of the substandard reporting and lack of quality information that they provide to the fans. For example, we have been dying for some real news on how the workouts are going and which players the Bobcats might be leaning towards and why, but from the Observer we just get fluff.3.
MESSAGE BOARDS. Hi. My name is X. It's not my real name. It's anonymo -- fake. See, I make up a fake name and write on message boards. I'm bitter because referees and the media are unfair to my team and because, OK, I haven't had a date since the spring of '83.
Maybe one day they will realize that places like this where we as fans can gather to discuss and debate our teams are something that is good for the growth of the fanbase and not something that they should feel threatened by.
Thats my $0.02 anyway.

What an idiot.
RIP Michael Jackson & Steve McNair
hes just pissed, that his new paper is in decline sales wise, and that we go here for more important, up to date, instant rumors and reports.
hes a joke for sure... the charlotte sports page is a joke and it hurts the charlotte sports scene. its hard to gain fans and sell jerseys when all the sports reporters in charlotte wanna do is tear the team down, and talk about how bad they are. it pisses me off.
Almost all of that list is incredibly idiotic.
Wow. Really? This is the level of quality found in the Charlotte Observer, huh?
This guy's either an idiot or he realizes that complaining about things is an easy way to write a quick and readable column. Though, he should probably just be ignored the way that he should be ignoring all those things in sports that make him sick.
I mean, honestly, all it takes is a glance at #12 (Michelle Wie) to see that this guy's whining about people whining.
Well Tom, I have one thing I hate in sports:
1. People that are whiny journalists which is just a small step up from emo bloggers.
Ring a bell anyone?
Who the fuck is Dominic Mcguire
I have noticed lately Sorensen is influenced by Mark Packer's show, Primetime. Anyone that listens knows he isn't the biggest fan of the Bobcats or the NBA in general so this negative media isn't surprising.
Charlotte Hornets - 1987-2002 - RIP
Charlotte Bobcats - 2004-Forever
Bobcats Fan 4 Life!
yeah its gonna be an upward battle with the entire charlotte media.
winning fixes everything.

I don't think there is a more appropriate statement for the Bobcats fan situation. Case in point: The NHL's very own Carolina Hurricanes
The Hurricanes had a similar situation to us. Coming from Hartford, the former mighty Whale had moved to Greensboro for the first two years while the RBC Center was being erected. There was a genuine lack of interest at these games. My brother used to take me up there to see them play, and I would be heartbroken at the lack of a sizable fan base. The employees even had to black tarp the upper deck of the Greensboro Coliseum, and attendance was usually around 6,000 fans. Once the team got into a permanent home in Raleigh and actually started playing decent did attendance start to rise. Playoff trips, a Stanley Cup Finals appearance, and eventually even a Stanley Cup trophy has made the RBC Center one of the most highly visited arenas in all of professional hockey.
Where am I going with this? As much as it pains me to say it (I have sensed refused to watch the NHL for selfish and stubborn reasons), the Hurricanes had a great product that skyrocketed once the team started winning. The Bobcats also have a great product. Add in the fact that Charlotte is a city which secretly loves basketball, and you've got yourself a recipe for success. The final ingredient? Winning
