just how much does a half page ad cost? you can see if u can cut a deal with the charlotte sports section and they can help sponsor it
Ziggy, BPers, Warrior fans that might see this.
it was mentioned on the observer board that we should get a newspaper ad, welcoming J-rich. To show that we are happy to have him here, and that we expect the same kind of relationship that the Warriors had with him. It would also ease his transition from fan favorite to new guy. making him feel as wanted here as he was there.
I think it would go beyond that though. This city is in desperate need of a cleansing in the NBA realm. It would help bring the fans that still feel scorned for some reason back into the fold. When they see that a player is being added that cares about his city and cares what the fans think, it could truly resurrect that feeling we had back in the 80s and early 90s. We need something that will spark the intrest, and rid the bad taste the NBA left here. not to mention it will cause more traffic here on BP.com and grow our fan base.
theres no better way than fielding a team of good guys, that play hard and win. when the players and fans have a great relationship, it transcends most anything the greedy owners can do.
Now i know that a newspaper ad is expensive and quite frankly our fan base isnt big enough to afford it right now haha. But maybe theres another way, like a website or something that we could do to make him and new fans welcome? any ideas will be good.

hahaha good luck getting the charlotte observer to do anything nice for the bobcats.
but your right, its worth a shot.
ill send someone an email and see whats up. ziggy you might have better connections.
This is a great idea. I'd also look into companies that sponsor the Bobcats (i.e. Lowe's, Wachovia) for help. Maybe they would do something like that.
A simple way to do it is to create a website like //welcomej-rich.com (or something) with a 'shopped picture of j-rich in 'cats uni. Then link to this site.
Just send it to his agent. He'll get it. Costs would be minimal.

I've bashed Sean May & the Observer so much that I'm pretty sure that I'm on both the Bobcats and Charlotte Observer's shit listOriginally Posted by Mustachio

Dunk's idea of doing a web page would be pretty easy to do, but I think the ad in the Observer would have more impact.
Was anyone able to find out how much something like that would cost?
sent an email to the OB today, ill report back to you guys as soon as i know something. if they arent as helpful, ill send an email to the rhino times or creative loafing. not as widely read, but would probally be easier to work with. not as many corporate hold backs and what not.
im hoping this not only makes jason welcome... but it gives the bobcats the sense that they do actually have some die hard fans. also i hope its a step in reconciling the community with the NBA, the observer and everything else.
Welcome JRich. I'm thrilled to have you, and you're about to be part of something special in Charlotte this year.
Has J Rich released a statment about the trade yet? How does he feel about the move.

Nothing yet, and I for one am getting a little concerned about it.Originally Posted by Beekizzle
