Sean May article

There is an article in the Charlotte Observer today talking with Sean May discussing his knee and how he has been rehabbing it this offseason.

This is the line that caught my eye:

May said his knee problems could be career-threatening if they worsen. However, he's confident he'll be back for camp, cleared for full activity.

as did this one:

He says he understands the importance of trimming down. Despite the limitations on his activity, May said he weighs about 270 pounds, 10 above his target weight for camp.

If he says he weighs 270, does that really mean that hes about 285?

Not playing until complete recovery is a smart decision. But that would also mean that he'll never play again, since it's almost impossible to be fully healed after these injuries, especially about knees.
I hope he changed his lazy attitude. Because when he's healthy, he is definitely one of the best offensive weapons of Bobcats.

Thats the thing that frustrates me the most about Sean, when he is in the game he makes an impact. But he just can't stay healthy for more than 15 or 20 games at a time.

I've got some thoughts on this:

1) Why the hell does it take SO LONG for the Observer to give us information like this? Was it so hard to call up and ask, "hey what's Sean May's situation? About 10,000 fans have been clueless for months."

2) So we FINALLY get confirmation of what I've been fearing, that May's knee problems are career threatening and need either long term rehab or probably dreaded micro-fracture surgery. The dude has some serious issues he's managing there. I don't think any trade with the Nets could ever have been consumated. How could he pass a physical?

3) All this talk of McMay and his lifestyle probably has little to actually do with his actual injury situation and really trivializes what he is going through. It's cruel. Let's please deal with the reality of his condition. Sure keeping the weight off is an issue with Sean, but its secondary to the big elephant that is his knee problem. I hope he makes it, I like to see him on the floor for us.

4) We seriously need a power forward. I bet May doesn't play at all next year. We are going to get owned on the front court.

I agree, we should have traded him to the Nets for the 17th pick like they offered before the draft, that way we could have drafted someone like Javaris Crittenton from GT or Aaron Brooks for Oregon...

He could have never passed the physical.His best hope is to lose weight. Because with each knee seregy the mcl and the acl ligamits get loser each time . Ive had seven knee seregys and none of them worked . But things are more advanced now .

1. I know its beating a dead horse, but I've given up on the Observer for timely, informative Bobcats information. In the Hornets days, they would write a 3 page spread anytime Tim Kempton took a dump, but it took months for them to give us some info on our former lottery pick's knee.

4. Agreed, we need one more big physical body ( in addition to getting Crash signed ) and you can take a trip to the 2007-2008 playoffs to the bank.

Agreed Bumpus. Okafor is great for the running game, but he shouldn't be counted on to defend the paint by himself. We need Rick Mahorn at PF or Dennis Rodman, are they available? Seriously, maybe Milicic fits here. I'm sure if the Bobcats are looking at Darko that the Observer is on it!

The other dudes...umm...Brezac and Harrington are way too slow and poor defenders. I like Davidson and Hollins, but its way too soon to count on them; they'll probably end up in the NBDL.
