Dan Haren was named the AL's starting pitcher for Tuesday's All-Star Game.

C.C. Sabathia looked like the leading candidate until getting lit up last time out, but Haren was the better choice all along. He leads the AL with a 2.30 ERA. Manager Jim Leyland also announced that he'll use a lineup of CF Ichiro Suzuki, SS Derek Jeter, 1B David Ortiz, 3B Alex Rodriguez, RF Vladimir Guerrero, LF Magglio Ordonez, C Ivan Rodriguez, 2B Placido Polanco and SP Haren.

Jake Peavy was chosen over Brad Penny to start the All-Star Game for the NL squad.

A battle of the ERA leaders would have had Chris Young facing Dan Haren, but Peavy ranks second in the NL and is first in strikeouts. Manager Tony La Russa will go with a lineup of SS Jose Reyes, LF Barry Bonds, CF Carlos Beltran, RF Ken Griffey Jr., 3B David Wright, 1B Prince Fielder, C Russell Martin, 2B Chase Utley and Peavy.
Peavy vs. Haren should be a good starter's deul, even though in a all-star game, they'll only get two innings to pitch, if they get that much, overall, I'm not too big of a fan of the All-Star game and how it decideds who get's homefield advantage in the World Series, I still believe they should go on who has the better record at the end of the season between the two competing teams...
