If they can pull this off there is no doubt in my mind they would be my favorites in the East going into the season that trio is scary.

If this goes down, even with the losses of Jefferson, Green, Telfair and Ratliff they would still have to be considered one of the favorites to win the East.
KG, Allen and Pierce would be a hell of a trio. I actually want it to happen 1) because the East needs more elite players 2) i feel sorry for KG if he stays in Minny, the man deserves to have a shot at a championship and those chances are better in the East.

It be scary for a few years, but eventually they'll be too old and be back where they are now....Plus he wants a huge extension from what I hear, Minnesota would drop that huge contract and would be able to compete in free agency the next few years...
DO it Minnesota!
AL Jefferson will duplicate KG's numbers next year.

Jefferson's not goin....
A new report from Shira Springer of the Boston Globe says that Al Jefferson is not currently included in a potential trade for Kevin Garnett and that the deal is not imminent.
According to Springer, the current trade stands with the Celtics sending Gerald Green, Ryan Gomes, Sebastian Telfair, Theo Ratliff and two first-round picks to the Timberwolves for Garnett. Al Jefferson is not included in the deal at the moment, which raises many questions, including how the teams would deal with Garnett's trade clause that calls for a 15 percent salary increase. Depending on which source you read, this trade is not a sure thing and there are still more questions than answers. In any case, it appears that Garnett is close to being traded to the Celtics.

Jefferson is now going...and it may be official....it's on these two sources and also on Yahoo...
BOSTON -- Kevin Garnett is leaving Minnesota after the Boston Celtics agreed to acquire the All-Star forward in a multiplayer trade with the Timberwolves, a Celtics official told the Associated Press on Monday.

Among the players who could be headed to Minnesota are forward Al Jefferson, guard Sebastian Telfair, swingman Gerald Green and center Theo Ratliff, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal had not been completed. The official also said the Timberwolves would get at least one draft choice.
The teams still had some things to clarify with the players' contracts, but the official said that would not keep the Celtics from acquiring Garnett, although there could be a change in the players ticketed for the Timberwolves.
There was a chance that a conference call announcing the trade would be held Monday, the official said.
Garnett, 31, has spent all of his 12 NBA seasons with Minnesota. He would get an extension of his contract, which has one year plus an option year remaining, the official said.
The Celtics had tried to get Garnett late last month, but his agent said he didn't want to go to Boston.
Since then, Boston acquired seven-time All-Star guard Ray Allen from Seattle in a draft day deal. Already with Paul Pierce, the Celtics would become instant contenders in the mediocre Atlantic Division with Garnett, even without promising forward Jefferson.
The Celtics obtained Allen and the 35th pick of the draft for guards Delonte West and Wally Szczerbiak, and forward Jeff Green of Georgetown, whom they drafted with the fifth pick.
The Celtics have won just three playoff series during Pierce's nine years with them. They still have an NBA-record 16 championships, but none since 1986.
"They have no excuses, this team out there," Danny Ainge, the executive director of basketball operations, said after Allen was acquired.
Pierce, 29, led the Celtics in scoring last season but played only 47 games because of injury.
Allen, who turns 32 next month, averaged a career-high 26.4 points last season, his 11th, but underwent surgery to remove bone spurs on both ankles that required him to wear protective boots. He is expected to be ready for training camp
-CBS SportslineAccording to a Celtics official, Kevin Garnett has been traded to Boston.
Among the players thought to be headed to Minnesota are forward Al Jefferson, guard Sebastian Telfair, swingman Gerald Green and center Theo Ratliff, said the official. He also said the Timberwolves would get at least one draft choice. It had been reported throughout the day that Ryan Gomes and two No. 1 draft choices would be included in the deal, but as of now, it sounds like Gomes is staying with the Celtics. Details of the trade are still being worked out and it is not official, but the source said that none of those issues should keep the Celtics from acquiring Garnett, who is currently on a cruise vacation. However, there could be a change in the players going to Minnesota. There was a chance that a conference call announcing the trade would be held Monday, the official said.

man, that would be a rediculous squad in boston. however they don't have a good PG, but who really needs one when you have 3 legit all stars on your team?
the only reason i can think of this not succeeding is because of when the lakers tried to assemble an all star team (kobe, shaq, malone, payton) and it led to the lakers being blown up. but those 3 are pretty sick
The lakers only had two legit stars that could be counted on in Shaq and Kobe. Malone was in his final year and was only a shell of himself, and Payton was on the downside of his career. Garnett, Pierce, and Allen can average about 25 points a game each, and attribute for about 24 rebounds.
I think it will also be good chemistry. Rondo is a good defensive point that can make plays if needed, but won't be relied on to spark the offense with the 3 stars. Who knows, maybe Gabe Pruitt will come in and be the needed floor general.
Now they don't have any legit PF or C depending on where Garnett plays. Maybe they'll use Big Baby Davis? Who knows, maybe Kendrick Perkins will become legit?
Tony Allen also is a good backup for Allen, and I think he'll be called to keep Allen's minutes down.
All I can say is though, I hope they can pick someone up to get some more depth behind them.

On paper it looks good, but I get the feeling that it isn't going to live up to expectations.
As Bumpus said, theres not much depth remaining after the Celtics make the deal. And with your 3 stars all being over the age of 31, injuries and possibly a drop in production are likely to happen.
