    Default Bobcats huge update:

    http://www.charlotte.com/sports/story/277023.html

With about two weeks left until training camp, Vincent offered thoughts about the roster:

    • He thinks the team needs another big man, "a 6-10 banger-type." Vincent suggested two unrestricted free agents -- Michael Ruffin (formerly with the Washington Wizards) and Marc Jackson (most recently a New Orleans Hornet) -- as viable candidates to fill that role.

Marc Jackson did well towards the end of last season when given minutes (averaging 13 points and roughly 7 boards). He has a good midrange shot and can make free throws. He doesn't block shots, but could be as good if not better than Voskuhl. I agree with this pick at the right price. On the other hand, I don't think Ruffin would be a good fit as he's undersized and can't score. It all depends on how Vincent plans on using him, but a guy that's never scored 15 points in a game in his career is not what I want.

    And on Sean May:

He said power forward Sean May, recovering from a knee injury, has performed so well in workouts the past two weeks that he might not be limited in training camp. May has been cleared for 1-on-1 and 2-on-2 drills, but not for full-scale scrimmages. Vincent said the workouts were an attempt to test what May can handle, heading into camp.
Hopefully this is a good sign of things to come. If May can prove he's worthwhile, he'll get a decent contract extension. From this, does anyone think that he'll be able to handle 60-70 games?

Vincent said he favors re-signing guard Derek Anderson if it makes sense from a salary cap- and roster-management perspective. Anderson could serve as an emergency third point guard. Otherwise, the Bobcats would go to camp counting on two point guards (Raymond Felton and Jeff McInnis), with the option to sign a third point guard out of the developmental league during the season.
DA is definitely a better pick for the last roster spot.

I'd definitely prefer DA to either of Jackson or Ruffin. The article also noted that the team is considering going into the season with only 2 points on the roster - picking one up from the D-League if needed during the season; I'm not sure I like that idea.

I wonder how Sam figures to sign a big AND DA? hmmmm..

I think Marc Jackson and Ruffin are each seriously flawed players. Jackson has a decent offensive game but otherwise sucks on defense. He's slow and can't jump. Big dude though at 6-10 and like 260 lbs. Thats a lot of tonnage for an average to poor inside player.

Ruffin is pure defense with absolutely no Offensive game at all...none. Dude may be be WORST free-throw shooter in the NBA. But he's a nice Bowen-type (w/o a jumper of course) defensive player who will get rebounds. Real strong but undersized at 6-8, 250.

Heck, I'd still throw out a call to Esteban Batista and give him one more try. He has the height and bulk; and maybe a mix of O and D to play with. So far though, he's been All-FIBA and overmatched in the NBA. At 24 he has potential still.

That was a good article and Im glad we finally got some Sean May news. Glad to hear he is coming along so well. I like the Marc Jackson idea because of the money costs, we may be able to sign him, also I like the idea of resigning of DA. Sounds to me we are going to be a pretty good team if we can get DA back and sign Marc Jackson too.

    Cant Wait... Go Bobcats!

I'm glad May is coming along so well. If may is healthy and can contribute 60 to 70 games we don't need another big. I'd sign DA and look for another combo guard out of the d league.

Sure, but I don't know that we'd do it as we'd have to waive someone (assuming just signing FAs here, no trades). The one we'd all love to whack is Harrington, but we could also cut Hollins and Touche' with their minimum 700k deals. Harrington's making about 2.4 million.

    I wonder what DAs wanting?
