Default Top 10 Notes from Training Camp on Bobcats...

(The black squad, which included all five projected starters, beat the white 84-64 in Sunday's scrimmage in Wilmington.)

    1

Gerald Wallace plays an intra-squad scrimmage like Game 7 of the NBA Finals. One sequence was telling: He exploded through a double team under the basket for a scoop bucket, then sprinted to the other end to block rookie Jermareo Davidson's seemingly breakaway layup.

    2

Raymond Felton is in love with alley-oop passes this season, and Wallace and Jason Richardson are his preferred targets.

    3

Ryan Hollins' confidence is way up. He squared up for a 12-foot baseline jump shot and swished it. A year ago, that might have been an air ball.

    4

Matt Carroll arrived for training camp in exceptional shape, and that's helped him defensively, particularly getting around screens.

    5

Davidson has some very nice moves around the post. He was particularly effective launching a jump-hook that settled into the basket nicely over Emeka Okafor's outstretched arm.

    6

Felton is so much better a point guard in an up-tempo style, and the Bobcats are serious about running more this season.

    7

For one night, anyway, Okafor had no trouble at the foul line. He hit 6 of 7 attempts, so perhaps he's fixing a longtime flaw.

    8

Carroll's shot was off (3-for-10 from the field, 0-for-3 from 3-point range), but that's no indication of the type of camp he's had.

    9

If Hollins looks as good in real games as he did in Sunday's scrimmage (12 points, six rebounds and a block), he will be a starter.

    10

If you want to turn every head in a college gym, have Michael Jordan show up just before tip-off. The royal family doesn't get that much attention in London.

Quoting "If it's up to me, we'd go to Hawaii for camp and play the Warriors and Lakers. Or Europe. Rome! That would be nice." -- Bobcats coach Sam Vincent, joking with a reporter from Wilmington on whether the team would return here for training camp
    - http://www.charlotte.com/bobcats/story/310112.html"]Charlotte Observer[/URL]

Can't wait for the season, Hollins sounds like he's gotten much better and is ready to start. 12 points, 6 rebounds and a block isn't bad at all, hopefully we can get two or three more rebounds per game, though this was against the 2nd team...Hopefully though they've gotten the chemistry together, and they can carry it well into the season...

    my favorite part:

Let's hope it stays that way!

I like Hollins and given his chance to play finally, I think he will take off with his game and do well for a 2nd year man....

My favorite part is the Crash note at #1. It sets a good example for the rest of the team when your best (or second best to Emeka) player plays with that intensity.

I love Emeka Okafor. one of if not my favorite Bobcat.

but im quickly stepping into the camp that Gerald is our best player. He does everything. brings excitement and is usually available to play. not saying injury is Meks fault... just that Crash ironically seems more resilient

that doesnt really have anything to do with anything... just thought id throw that in there

Depending on how JRich pans out, Crash is our best player.

But EO50 is our most valuable.

    Exactly.

I love the JRich acquisition, but I don't think he'll beat out Crash to be our best player.  There's no stopping Crash now...the boy has arrived.

i agree... each year with the bobcats... a lot of talking heads have mentioned that it was a break out season for Crash. but then he goes right back to being under the radar....

just from interviews, and reports out of camp from scrimmages and what not... Crash seems prepared to make the jump from little known to serious star. Statistically hes really not that far behind some so called stars... just points really.
if you ask me anyone who averages 2 and 2 for a season is a star. now i think this will be the season he shines. due mostly to the fact that his team wont be so far under the radar, and jrichs shine will only bring more light to Crash.

    freakin pumped.
