I really wish we would try to put an offer on the table for Varajao and bite the bullet and cut someone...preferably touche since DA seems capable as a backup (and since Raymond will be getting 35-40 minutes).
Something I noticed in the comments - What if Baron Davis was to come to the team in a trade that sent GSW Felton and someone else/draft pick? I know Baron is injury prone...but after seeing him in that playoff run...wow.
Baron
J-rich
Crash
Herrmann
Okafor
I'm not a big fan of Baron, but his vet leadership and his known commodity would be a welcome sight if Felton didn't turn out. I'm kind of on the fence with this one. I certainly wouldn't want his contract under any circumstance, however.
I think the biggest thing that worries me is the X-Factor in Raymond. At least we KNOW we will have struggles up front...but at least we have time to prepare for it. Raymond COULD be good and he also might kill us. I don't like that uncertainty, but I hope for the best and that midseason I'm laughing at even considering the Baron idea if worse came to worse.
Who the fuck is Dominic Mcguire
I'd really go for that trade, Bumpus. Baron was a blast to watch and cheer for when the Hornets were here. Also, he was reluctant to play in Charlotte when he first came in '99 draft, but he grew to like it here. That said, the contract is brutal, but it would definitely be an upgrade, injuries be damned.
Same here, I'm obviously hoping Raymond will succeed here, so a trade wouldn't be an option.

So you'd be willing to trade a young, iron man like PG who wants to be here more than anything and is still learning the ropes for a PG who is often injuried, on the deline, 29 years old and has a massive contract AND we'd have to throw in fillers??
I believe I stated this...:Originally Posted by Big Slam

I think you edited what your original post was.
To me it's no fence . Its no way id give a often hurt 29 year old point guard that kind of money. As many strong points coming out next year that would be a better option. Or a cheaper productive point in free agency might be another answer.Im not begging for us to keep Felton but hes hear for at least another year . By then we should have a better idea weather to keep him or not . Its not like his numbers suck that bad. He plays good defence averages 14ppg 4apg . Yes his shooting percentage needs to inprove but that should come with J-RICH to go along with Wallace and OAK.
Thanks Ammofan!
I'm sorry If I'm being a prick, but the the one time I edited the post was @ 11:20:55 PM yesterday (see the bottom of my post). Your post was written Today at 10:05:48 AM (as noted on your original post). No way I could have or would have edited what I said after your reply.Originally Posted by Big Slam
Sorry about the technicalities. It's not that big of a deal; I'm just trying to clarify what I said. All in all, I would much rather have Felton, but worse come to worse that Felton turns out to not be the man to lead our team to the playoffs, that I would put consideration on Baron as he has the game changing effect. Hell, I'd probably consider someone more reasonable like Jarrett Jack as he'd be easier to pry away until next season's draft/FA/trades, etc etc.

It may just be my man crush on Baron speaking but I'd trade Felton and some filler for him in 2 seconds flat and never look back. He's a difference maker on the court and emotionally. Plus he shows up big in the playoffs when it matters most. I know he got a little out of control in the Hornets offense once Tim Floyd took over but he's moved out of that Antoine Walker faze (overweight chucker) since heading out to GS.
I don't know what he's looking for in his contract necessarily but he'd be the best player on our team bar none so I'd be all for giving him big money as long as it's not $16M big. He does get injured a lot but so do all of our guys. The thing is we'd be really good when we're all together and could make some legit noise in the playoffs with him. Also he's still 28. He won't be 29 until the end of this season.
