    Default Bobcats reworking television deal

    http://www.charlotte.com/bobcats/story/341747.html

It sucks for me if they do, if they leave news 14 and my48 (or whatever its called). I will not get to see them play. I'm to cheap to get anything more than basic cable.

Damn, sorry to hear that, but it's actually good for me though. I only get about 10-15 games a year because I don't live in Charlotte, Raleigh or Greensboro. So I don't get News 14. If they get a deal with Fox Sports South I should be able to get almost every game and I won't have to always follow a Gamecast or anything to find out whats going on in the game.

I got about 10 games last year. If they get on Fox Sports South, I'd get every one that FSS would carry which should be a good bit more. I'd love it.

I'm paying 9.99 for basic cable for 6 months so I can watch the games. If they do this I'll be able to pick them up on DirectTV. Plus it's probably a step in the right direction for getting the Bobcat games in HD as a lot of the Fox Sports Network Channels are HD now or are moving that way. That'll be so much better than the pitiful signal they put out on News14. That's probably the worst looking channel in all of cable tv.

I really hope this is true, with me living in Wilson, I don't see any games of the Bobcats sadly, and I've only gotten to see them online, or if DirectTV is/was doing a special...

I think this is a good thing for the Bobcats. If they are more accessable to the area (not just in charlotte and raleigh)then they can develop a stronger following, and create more buzz. Once that happens and we make the playoffs then there will be no more articles eulogizing pro basketball in NC. I live here in Charlotte, so I would see the games on whatever channel they were on, but as a fan I want to see the new team in Charlotte sell out 365 consecutive games like the old one did. Also I agree with the post about News 14, the cameras are horrible. I think any pro sport should be broadcast in HD, and if sports south does it then Im all for it.

This seems to be great news; I like the fact the NBA office is interested in gettin us more exposure. I didn't realize this Time Warner deal limited the Bobcats nationally as much as it apparently does. No satellite? Wow. No wonder we are flying so low on the national radar.

I don't know where you live, JoeBananas, but with TW Cable here just outside of Winston-Salem, FS South is part of the basic cable package.

"The Charlotte Hornets name has been a mainstay throughout the region for many years, and we are excited to announce our intention to re-establish this historic brand. We believe that its return will galvanize our fan base by unifying our loyal Bobcats fans with those who have strong memories of our city's NBA predecessor." MJ, 5-21-13
