    Default Some Sean May thoughts

we should have traded sean may for the 17th pick and gotten sean williams, we had 22 points last night against the heat and SHAQ were as shaq nearly beat us single handedly in the first half of our last game against the heat. Sean Williams would have been that piece we needed (though i dont know about attitude etc) and we wouldnt have sean may taking up a roster spot with his contract... okay lets say sean may stayed moderately healthy then what, sean williams is still taller, faster, quicker, and arguably more skilled the sean is. now only time will tell if we made the right choice for the long run, but now were stuck with what seems to be a much worse situation

I think it is a poor argument to say sean may wouldnt have passed his physical, hes been going to doctors for the past year and only now we realize he has to have surgery... arg he makes me so mad i dont even want him when hes healthy (though i do remember his mid range jumper which looked pretty good)

also would he be able to keep up with our new look fast paced team?

what do you all think, I would love some more reasons to look forward to his return rather then regret the trade?

I am not trying to bash the bobcats, I love them, but it just seems like we are missing a lot of good opportunities... the attitude thing is the biggest question I think

and now lets look at stat lines
for sean williams 20 mpg 66% shooting, 9.4 ppg 2.43 bpg and .57 spg 4.9 rebounds per game

    granted only been 7 games

now sean may career 58 games in three seasons!

    47% shooting on 21.3 mpg .62 bpg 10.4 ppg 5.9 rebounds .62 spg

Yeah, but there were huge questions about Williams too. My guess is, aside from the May injured tidbit, that Charlotte didn't want to bring in a guy who had a questionable skill set AND questionable moral character. Being kicked out of your collegiate program isn't the best way to ingratiate yourself to a conservative North Carolina populace.

I'd rather have a healthy May over a healthy Williams. Obviously, that's hard to even judge since May's been healthy so little.

you can think its a poor excuse or not i dont care. Sean May didnt get traded because he wasnt gonna pass his physical. bottom line... nobody is gonna trade a draft pick for an injured player thats been injured countless times.

im not saying the bobcats make perfect personell moves, but this one was not an option

Absolutely. I understand grass smoking is a part of some players' extra-curricular life, but if you can't stay off the weed to the point that you'd rather light one up than play ball for your school, I have no use for you.

Also, I agree with Must' that the trade wouldn't've gone down anyway.

Yeah I think we are pretty much stuck with May, even if he heals, they would be scared to trade for him....

Yes, I believe we're stuck with May. One of two things are gonna happen next year. May's gonna come back healthy and be ready to play and be a great player on our team. Or he's gonna come back not in shape, sustain another injury and be a waste of space on our roster.
I know we're all hoping for May to come back healthy.

we're gonna have to have him healthy if were gonna get any trade value for him. i don't think he'll reach the value of a mid-first round pick again in the next 2 years or so. so we have to hope he gets healthy and plays well in 2008-09 and possibly trade him after that season (work out a sign and trade or something)

We're stuck with May, but when this offer was made (we're not fully sure even such an offer took place) May hadn't undergone microfracture surgery, we all knew that he was working to trim his weight and nothing much. We were thinking that he would be ready for the season opener.

But time passed, things happened in an undesired way for Bobcats and May. We have to consider the situation in the time happened. At that time, we were still high on May(I still am).

But if that offer had been accepted, I wouldn't be against it so much. I'd have never selected Williams though, I'd have gone after, for example, Crittendon. Williams' problematic past would have probably made our office afraid, just like me. I don't want Bobcats to be like the "Jail Blazers". You see, it took several seasons to clear the whole wreckage in Portland. We're on the right way, there is no need to spoil our future by taking this risk.

I don't know whether Sean will be able to run with an up-tempo offense with his knee and weight issues, but don't forget that a healthy May has the ability to put up 30+ points. I don't know when the last time he practiced or did a sit up was, but he has some talent around the basket, has a good mid-range jumper, and has some good hands. I just hope that he motivates himself and really dives into his microfracture surgery rehab like Amare Stoudemire did because that surgery is pretty serious.
