EDIT: I should also note that May was on crutches. So take take the no-rehabing joke with a grain of salt please![]()
Alright ladies and gentleman,
I've only got a few minutes so I'll make it brief. There are a couple of points I want to make about last night's victory over Portland.
Numero Uno - Gerald Wallace is the greatest basketball player to ever grace the game. At least that's how he acted last night. He had 87,000 dunks, a million FGs, and even stayed after half time to argue with the ref after Blake hit the Dr. Pepper Millionaire shot. At one point, my brother (A UNC Alum and die hard Heels fan) looks over to me and says "Why the hell didn't we recruit that guy?". I'm serious about this: If you have a problem with Gerald Wallace, then you need to seek therapy. There was one drive where he could have dished it off to Oak Town at the last second that was questionable. He earned that freebie though.
Numero Dos - As Matt Carroll came into the game, I told my family that he could stroke it like Dell Curry. My bad Bobcats fans, because for the next three quarters I jinxed the whitest guy in the city of Charlotte. It got so bad that I heard jokes like "Man if he fouls somebody he'd at least get on the scoreboard". Thankfully he turned it up in the fourth.
Numero Three (I only took one Spanish class in high school) - Speaking of the fourth, the Bobcats have apparently decided that the fourth quarter actually matters. Everybody turned it up in the fourth, especially J-Rich and Felton. I don't have the stats, but the Cats got super hot in the fourth quarter. It seemed like they couldn't miss.
Numero Four - Greg Oden really is as big as you think he is. His legs took up half of the Blazer's bench.
Numero Five - Sean May has been shopping while not rehabing his broken body. He wore a brown crush velvet suit. Awesome.
All in all it was a great game guys. The attendance was atrocious (Listed as 8,000 maybe?), but still enthusiastic. I really enjoy watching this team play ball. They hustle, are disciplined, and I think their team chemistry is starting to reall take form. Will they be able to make a playoff push? It might be too early to tell, but they are definitely on the right track.

P.S.- I'm taking a semester of Russian this spring. This way when Primoz starts flailing around like an Eastern Block mad man again, somebody will be able to scream something at him.

......Go Bobcats!!!!! !!!..
good stuff thanks edrow
May had on a what looked like a black velvet smoking jacket on Saturday. He must be continuing to channel his inner Hef, what with the partying and the gustatory indulgence. Now he needs to show up to games with some ladies under his arms instead of the crutches.
Thanks Dav! That will help out a lot!
Announced attendance was 10,650 give or take 30, but from the broadcast it looked like about 8K or so. I like it though, because as you said, those fans that show up are enthusiastic, as they have been at the games I've gone to so far (excepting Phoenix game, but there was nothing to cheer about there on the basketball court). What I like is we have a core following of 8-10K fans that really love the Cats, and I think this core will increase slightly, but not significantly, as we win more games. Having seen some of the moribund crowds at Memphis, Philly, and New Jersey, our fans kick their asses, and as long as we make noise when appropriate, the players will feed off of us, even without a near-capacity crowd.Originally Posted by Edrow

I've seen attendance at different arenas and ours doesn't appear any different than some, as Beags mentioned. However, I still expect higher numbers from the Queen City.
That being said, I gotta say that from my perspective the reason why our attendance is subpar at the beginning of games and then swells toward the end is because the ticket-holders in the lower bowl fail to show up for the game. My guess is that people grow weary of their seats by the third quarter and relocate.
I had a student the other day say to me, "the Bobcats have fans?"
My response was simply, "Well, they have at least one." (I teach math. There's a tie-in there.) In retrospect, I should have said, "We may not have as many as some other teams, but at least ours are faithful."
