Default Be the GM...Find Us a Big/Backup PG!

    ESPN Trade Machine

Using the Trade Machine let's come up with an idea that Jordan can run with (you know they read these forums). Try to think of a reason the other team might do it as well (no Harrington for Stuckey deals!).

    I'll start the ball rolling:

Trade #1...Charlotte trades Primoz Brezec & Othello Harrington to Detroit for Nazr Muhammed.

Why Detroit does it: Nazr doesn't have a bad yearly deal at 6 per, but it's for 4 years. Detroit tried without any takers this past summer to move him and would still like to get out of his long term deal. Primoz would actually help them (Nazr only gets like 12 mpg) by giving them an outside big. They just cut Harrington...which is their cost for us doing the deal.

Why Charlotte does it: Gain a big that can start (tho not IMO the "ultimate" starter) as well as gaining a roster spot.

Trade #2...Charlotte trades Fabio for Patrick O'bryant

Both expiring...Fabio should fit into their style better than POB. We need the big depth since Twigs is out with a partially torn shoulder muscle.

With the extra roster spot we pick up Ken Lucas III as backup PG.

    Felton/Lucas/Touche'
    JRich/Hammer/DA
    Crash/Duds
    Mek/Davidson/Nazr
    Nazr/POB/Davidson

NY fans are calling for a fire sale after last night 50 point lost. They only want to keep the players on rookie contracts. How do you all feel about Eddy Curry with our defensive minded coaches, he might be a good pairing with Mek at center.

    Thoughts,

Sorry Spectre, I only read the boards and post when time permits. I'm not good with the Trade Machine or salary.

forgot to add the PG I would like to see on the team, backing up Felts.

    How about: Orien Greene.

    S'cool Bizzle...I'll give it a shot.

The problem with trading for players over 4 or 5 million is we'd either have to include a core piece or give them multiple players. If they're over the cap (which most are) they can only take up to 125% + 100k of the outgoing player's salary back in trade.

If we go solely on the NYK's just wanting to dump Curry's salary this would work:

Primoz/Harrington/Ammo for Eddy Curry. The Knicks are at the player limit so 2 of those would be cut...about 5 million out.

Would they do that? Doubtful. The Knicks have always been over the cap by multiples, so salary isn't that big a consideration.

To get realistic we'd have to dip into our core 4 and/or add our pick. If you want to do that give me a name and I'll put a trade together.

    How about: Orien Greene.
If he's still without a team you'll create a roster spot in the NYK trade...so that would be good to go. IF we go with that example I laid out we'd probably have to send our pick...top 5-10 even.

We can't do both because of salary.  Check that link I provided...all you do is click in the box beside the name and hit "try this trade".  This will also let you know who's NOT available for trade (Hammer, Touche' and DA). I think they will become available for trade on December 15th.

Either alone will work, but would Dallas trade their starting C (tho he's only playing for 24 minutes) for Primoz or Fabio?  That will HAVE to include our pick.

I played around with the trade checker to get Chris Wilcox from Seattle, hes the kind of physical banger that we could use and theres several combinations that would work (Walter & Primoz for example), but unfortunately I don't see any legitimate deal that we would be willing to make that they would accept.

Last night was a wake up call for NY fans. They are ready to rebuild, I'm thinking they would want picks and expirings. idk, maybe Walter, piggy, or a 2nd, if we have one. They would be lottery bound, so a top pick might do it.

It would also be worth it, if Mek decide to walk. All thou I don't think he would.

430K to sign an undrafted rookie, I would do now, because I can't take too much more of Mcinnis.

Orien Greene is a pass first PG, who play defense, Which can also be groomed for the future. Everytime Felts stumble it scares me.

i like the junior harrington sign and then go for curry and or wilcox. jr is a pass first pg with height and plays good defense. curry and wilcox can run the floor well but i'll give the edge to wilcox because of his mean streak. besides curry had the heart problem but if that's okay either is fine jr is also from my high school so i'd love to see one of the locals when i come to the games.

I tried my dream trade and it went through, partially.

We send NO: Raymond, Mek, Walter and Primoz

We get: CP3 and Tyson Chandler

That was successful via the apparatus

I imagine if we include an unconditional 1st rounder so that we also acquire David West, that'd be kosher too.

Why would we do this? Won't explain the obvious reasons, but we wouldn't have to worry about shelling out 13M or so for Mek (Chandler and West both are at multi-year, 10.5M, to give some perspective), acquiring a big via FA, or constantly worrying about our PG dillema. All that would be needed is strengthening our bench, which would be addressed in off-season.

Why would NO do this? The Hornets are about as popular in NO as they were in Charlotte during their lame duck '02 season, with horrific attendance...and they have a good team! Chris would love to play in his home state, plus he would be the Identity (to borrow from ohara!) that would draw a few more casual fans into the Arena, and certainly force the Winston-Salem Journal (Chris's hometown paper) to cover the 'Cats, making them noticeable. This has the potential to be a massive cost-cutting move by the Hornets also.

I don't imagine this has a snowball's chance of happening, but it would turn the 'Cats into an absolute beast with a SL of:

    Chris Paul
    Jason Richardson
    Gerald Wallace
    David West
    Tyson Chandler

My eyes water at that prospect.
