Things I noticed while looking at the Bobcat's stats today

While sitting in the bathroom stall today (I hope that visual sticks in your brain ) I had a chance to take a really close look at the Bobcat's stats. Here are a few things that I noticed that bug me.

The stats: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/cha/stats

* Raymond Felton is back to shooting under 40% from the field. Hes shooting a glorious 39.7% from the field. shooting under 40% one year is bad, two years is a trend, 3 years is a serious problem.

* Gerald Wallace's shooting is down from 50+% last year to 44.7%.... too many jumpers Gerald.

* Emeka's blocks are down from 2.6 per game to 2.0. This I cant explain.

* Jeff McInnis is getting 23 minutes per game. Theres not a roster in the NBA where Jeff deserves those kind of heavy minutes.... But heres the thing, is Coach Vincent giving him those minutes because he trusts his play OR is he giving Jeff the minutes because he does not trust Ray's play

Coach puts to much confidence in Mcinnis . As productive players should get his burn [ Hammer, DA.]
Yon hardly see Felton in with the Hammer . Its mostly Mcinnis and Felton or Mcinnis and the Hammer.
We just need to forget about Mcinnis and play DA.

I could live with those minutes going to D.A. He doesn't make some of the "less than brilliant" plays that Jeff does.

It is exactly these kinds of facts which cause me to go into my rants about trading one or more of the core guys and just rebuilding through the draft. These are all signs of a deep internal problem with the team - we are not as good as we thought we were. Our faith in some of the guys to become All Star caliber players has been shattered by the reality that we have a couple very good players, but no All Stars. And worse, these very good players are unable to gel as a unit and play competitive ball in the NBA. We are rapidly falling into the bottom 3 teams and will be there within 2 weeks if something drastic is not done.

Did anyone read the ESPN piece on Dwight Howard and how he has become the dominant center in the NBA. We have to deal with him a few times each season and always will. We cannot expect Okafor to guard him, or Harrington, or Voskul, or POB or any of the other people we are talking about getting in a trade. We have to get a true Center in the draft and get someone young and strong who can hone his game over the first couple years and be ready to challenge Howard.

I do not want to be the doormat for Orlando for the next 12 years!!!!!!! I detest mediocrity and will yell my ass off till someone in mgmnt listens to me and does something.

For me, I've supported Ray for a long time but his stats are killing me. Watching guys shoot under 40% makes my eyes bleed.

Heres one more interesting stat that'll make your head hurt.

Gerald Wallace is averaging 3.2 turnovers per game.
Is that a result of a less structured offense?

I dont know if youve read my posts ohara, but i think we are on the same page, changes are need, major changes... Like I said, the only one I keep is Jrich, probably hollins because hes my boy... other then that, we need to fix what we need to fix

Like I pointed out in the other thread...two more makes and he's at 41%.  We also know he's taken more than a handful of "chunks" while he shot clock is expiring. He also takes it upon himself to try and create shots when the others are struggling. More difficult shots, more misses.

If we are going to get anything of real value back, you have to trade someone something that they want and need. The two most tradeable commodities we possess are Ray and Okafor. Carroll, Crash and J-Rich have new Contracts and are not tradeable assets at this time. Also, I love Carroll and Crash and want them around. Okafor and Ray are coming up on the last stages of a Contract. Each is young and good, but nothing near a superstar. IF I were going to discuss a trade, it would have to involve someone who was young but I felt strongly had the potential to be great. About the only one fitting that description right now of whom I am aware is Tyrus Thomas. He has lost time to Noah already and will not get much PT now. I would prefer a talent like that along with a draft pick.**Please note that I am not advocating trading either Okafor or Ray for Thomas at this time. It would however be worth looking into. Chicago is going to have a very serious draft pick coming this season. Trading one of the two, and maybe throwing in Herrmann or Dudley gets us Tyrus and a high draft pick? Neither Herrmann or Dudley will compare to the Lottery players in this year's draft so it it a major step up for us if we have 2 of them.

You never know what the other person may be thinking or wanting to do unless you speak with them. There could be some desperation going on in Chicago. If we threw a 2 for 1 and their draft pick, that would enable us to then sign someone like Boykins and even another FA if we wanted to get rid of someone through a buyout. That someone could be a Guard or Forward, just depending upon whom we traded.

Just some thoughts on the subject since you asked.
