Unless Mohammed turns into a legitimate post presense offensively and defensively, Detroit is the winner of this trade, if not for personnel, then for, mostly importantly, the contracts. I really really really really question this move, and hope we haven't shot ourselves in the foot in signing Antawn this summer

Wondering what you think on this, ohara.....

Beagle: If Nazr can get us a double double, which he can if you extrapilate out his numbers for playing 30+ mnutes a game, then he is worth the $5+ mil. I'd pay that for the next 3 yrs for a double double man. If we sign Okafor, then that really gives us great leeway in the 08 Draft to go get the very best player, be he a Guard, Forward or Center. Additionally, we now have a roster spot. If we can get someone of ability to help, like a PJ Brown or Boykins, I will feel fairly good about the trade as well.

Now, it does add a mil to the payroll, and more if we add a 15th player as we likely will. I am pleased that mgmnt is spending money, at least TRYING. We can argue about how wisely they are spending it, but at least they are not sitting on their wallets.

Overall, it is a band aid at a minimum, but IF Nazr gives us 10 pts and 10 rebs on an avg, then we are clearly the winners in the trade. If he plays and gives us 5 pts and 5 rebs per game, then we blew another trade. Somewhere in the middle would be a wash. We will have to see how Nazr performs, that's the bottom line. Cannot say for sure yet if we won the trade or Detroit won it until we see how Nazr performs.

One thing to remember too is that we can lose the trade to Detroit, so to speak, but it still be a winning trade for us. If Hermann becomes their best sixth man, then good for them. He wasn't there. If Nazr simply gives us more presence down low, it's likely a win for us. Unless Hermann blows up into sixth man of the year award, I don't think we're losing much. I'm sure Hermann would be a much better player on either Detroit, the Spurs or any other team that had a fantastic system, ready made for his talents. Ours isn't. Hence, he's successful some nights and a ghost on others. Nazr should benefit us virtually every night, even if he does short comings.

As other folks have mentioned, a quality big isn't going to come cheap. If we overpay on Nazr to bring some stability to our team, that's worth the extra millions in my opinion. Remember, we can trade Nazr's expiring contract next year if the team outgrows his usefulness. In the meantime, we're in dire need of his game.
    SOMEONE will pay for THIS!

This all seems like a desperation move.

We traded a good SF/PF that had tons of potential, and a C that if he could ever get his act together is better then Nazr for an undersized C (If Okafor is too small for playing C, then so is Nazr...although I don't believe that) that is probably past his prime. Unless this guy can come in and score 12 points a game and get at least 10 rebounds, then we have lost this trade. I personally predict that Nazr will be a bench player that contributes less then Herrmann would have if given playing time.

I think Naz will bring more to the table then we all realize. He will become that banger down low that we're missing. He will bring some veteran leadership from the pistons and spurs. Most importantly he's tired of sitting on the bench he wants to play. Give him a chance.

BTW, I'll miss Fabio also, but he wasn't the answer to our prayers.

I hate to see Fabio go but this fills a gaping hole we have had all year. Hes the big body and banger we needed all year.
If coach V tightens his line up like he says . This should help a lot.
We looking at a eight or nine player rotation.
    1 Felton
    2 Rich
    3 Wallace
    4 OK50
    5 Naz

Just look at how much better rebounding we will be. And how much stronger in the middle we'll be.
    6.Carroll
    7.Hollins
    8. Mcinnis [ HOPE ITS BOINKINS]
    9. Dudley
Thats as deep as we go . So if we sign Boinkins Davidson will get time in the D league.

We should be very competive with this lineup and with Morrison , May, and a 1st round draft pick we should turn into a damn good team . Just by filling this nered .This move should take us to the play offs and with what we got coming next yeat we should be damn good.

I cant even understand for one minute how this isnt a great great great trade.

Brezec: Stiff, couldnt run, would never fit in our system and had terrible production when he did get good minutes. Seriously hasnt played a full out productive game for the Bobcats in two years. His contract was done after the year and theres no way we resigned him anyway. He was soft and unproductive. Advantage: BOBCATS!

Hermann: Cool guy, cool hair, cool nicknames, silky close range game, fun to watch. and thats about it. A lot of people on this board seem to overate him to an unbelievable point. He cant play defense worth a plug nickle and you know it! If you think he is gonna thrive in the Detroit Pistons system... then you are sorely mistaken. They are uber-defensive and the first few times Walter flails down the court losing his man... he will get benched. His contract was up and with all the guard/forwards we have....was never gonna get resigned. Advantage:Bobcats

Ok lets recap. We get a guy we need. A big that isnt scared of contact(primoz! im talkin to you) CAN REBOUND (primoz im talkin to you) and guy that can play defense (primoz and hermann im talkin to you) we got that for 2 players we WERE NOT GONNA RESIGN ANYWAY!!!! how is this a bad deal. Everyone brings up his contract as a negative. We just got a big man for less than what it would have taken to resign both hermann and brezec and all along a better player than both. Its exactly what we needed... especially since Adam Morrison and Dudley both bring anything we lose in Hermann.

Everyone has been whining about how bad we need a big man down low that rebounds and will dunk. and everyones whining that we have too many guard/forwards. Well guess what guys... both problems taken care of. Am i saying Nazr is an all star... no, but i am saying he is infinetly more valuable than either Hermann or Primoz.

Mustashio agreed for a change. Nicely said good post, REP IT UP. When we reach the play offs ever one will have for got abput how bad of trade they said this is.
I have said for the last two weeks Fabio was our best trade bait left to fill the need.
Yes i said the same thing about Morrison til he tore his ACL. He was our main trade bait and might have got a better trade . But im happy the way things have worked out.

I knew Herrmann was the best option for a trade but still hated to see him go, oh well thats that we needed a big and rid of Primoz and thats what they did. Welcome Nazr to the Bobcats....
