Default Paul Silas, Rick Carlisle or Larry Brown

... Is it time for MJ to ring one of these guys up on the phone yet?

Initially I thought that Sam would be safe for the entire season, but if we keep playing like this then I could see it happening around the halfway point of the season.

Normally, I'm a relax and see what happens kind of person. But this situation with the Bobcats is pretty bad. It's one thing to not have the line-up you want or the right offense yet. It's another thing to be ruining players' confidence in themselves and each other. I'm thinking now that Vincent should get until the all-star break to get his players fired up again.

However, I have a feeling he's going to get at least another year, meaning the middle of next year to make it work.

Me too...patience is what I've been preaching all year. Thing is I expected them to start seeing the light at the end of the tunnel after about 30 games but instead it appears we're regressing even more. The total reverses V is going thru (and in the media no less...that's really ticking me off. Wasn't that the "worry" with Larry Brown?).

Check out the Milwaukee Bucks board on RealGM. This season I see a lot of resemblences between them and us...disappointing big (Mek/Bogut), guy trying to be the star (Crash/Redd), struggling backup 2 (Hammer/Bell) and...A ROOKIE COACH.

Per the topic...right now I'd go with either Silas or Brown. Silas is a "player's coach" which has it's good and bad points and will probably never get us too far...or Brown who would probably tear the team down in an attempt to get it "right". Brown would be the most "extreme"...but right now I'm not so scared of that.

Agreed tho DNB...I still think V will get another season after this one. I shudder to think what the damage will ultimately be concerning our players though.

Agreed with him getting another year mainly because he's a rookie coach and he has ties with MJ but to answer the question at hand I'd love for us to hire Rick Carlisle or Larry Brown.

I mentioned this in another thread to, I think we should have gone with larry Brown, expensive but he knows how to deal with a less then superstar roster and bring them through the finals with one great player (iverson) though I still am wondering about how we are jumping the gun on him. I have not been happy with some of his coaching decisions with the lineups, with the substitutions, and with his lacking in motivational skills. Some problems start right from the beginning though, we are not on the team, we cannot say why we as a player dont believe in vincent, but right now it sure seems like the players feel that way. Heres my biggest problem, why did we hire him in the first place... because hes mj's friend, that is a TERRIBLE way to run a team. Hiring all your buddies wont get the job done, and its starting to shine through. We should have let vincent stay the fourth assistant on the mavs and we could have hired a much better underdog coach that could have been mj's avery johnson.

This coaching decision was based on two things imho, boosting Jordans rep if he found the next avery johnson (closest way to get that is to hire someone who coached under him right??!) then to have jordan surrounded by his buddies. Argh last night I said I only saw two mistakes but I forgot about Vincent.

Let him run the team for a while longer, then we will figure out if we are in a situation thats hopeless. Its not fair to blame vincent 100% for this debacle though, so we need to keep on working on finding the leaks in our ship and then fixing them, I think Jordan did very well with his nazr trade... lets keep it going

The coaching decision is a tough call.

Every veteran coach available has a significant question mark about them, especially Larry Brown. If you hire a young guy, you hopefully get a guy who's excited and fresh and close enough in age to the players to be a good motivator. The downside obviously is inexperience.

I don't necessarily question the call to choose him initially, as he had a pretty good pedigree for a fairly new coach. It wasn't like Jordan found a buddy who had a checkered past and gave him the keys to the kingdom. Vincent has demonstrated that he's a good coach, at least in certain situations.

He just looks over his head now. I definitely think our next coach is going to have to be a veteran that will demand respect straight out of the gates. We've got to get our focus back and rebuild these guys' confidence in what they do effectively.

yea, i think sam will get at least the rest of the season as well...he is mj's friend...

i'd prefer larry brown, but either of the 3 would be good...rick carlisle did pretty well with the pistons when he had them

There's no reason to fire Vincent this season. Let's first acquire a stable of talented players before we lay it all on him. Let's face facts, GW is our best player by like 20,000 leagues or so. After him we have a great offense weapon in JR, but he's defensively challenged, for the most part, and is a liability. Everyone else is just a fringe player. Mek is at times a beast on defense and rebouding and even scoring, but he's remarkably inconsistent, and is being overshadowed by Nazr Mohammed. Raymond tries so hard, but still hasn't found it, and probably never will in Charlotte, which sucks. No one off the bench is reliable in any facet of the game, especially defensively, which has killed us more than anything else this year (Re: Orlando game Sat.) When Jeff McInnis is your backup PG, that's just not good. A great reply from Vincent, if asked about this disappointing start to the season, would be to quote from the surgeon who "fixed" the Joker in Batman: "You see what I have to work with."

Since this season's a wash, why not let them try working things out? If we finish the season with somewhere between 15-20 wins, and there's a winning-experienced coach out there, then we should go for him. Otherwise, give him a team that can realistically win 40 games and/or make they playoffs, and if the results aren't there, then it's time to cut losses (literally and figuratively.)

PS. I am upset with him for the number of DNPs that he's giving Dudley. I don't know if he's in the doghouse or what, but there's no excuse. Plus, send Jermareo to the NBDL already if he's not going to play: he's just collecting dust and getting no game action on the bench (though this decision is not Vincent's, so I won't blame him for this.)

i like coach skiles to be the one who replace vincent.. with skiles, he would have little adjustment bec. he will handle somewhat the same line up he did in chicago with less winning experience though.. j-rich and wallace is like coaching deng and gordon, kirk-ray, ben-okafor.. who knws his system might work with our personel..
