I'm going to split this off into its own topic, its definitely worthy of its own thread of discussion.
Vincent downplays recordVincent also mentioned the team lost its starting point guard from last season. That player – Brevin Knight – left the team against his will when Bobcats management chose to buy out the remaining season on his contract. Knight so wanted to remain a Bobcat, he was willing to stay here for less money under a new deal. Instead, he’s now a Los Angeles Clipper.
I'm pretty much speechless.

At best, Ammo and May might have been good for 25 pts pr game, but then you have to take away some of the production of others from the bench who would not have played at all.
I do not know if he's giving up on the season as much as he is just being honest. He made the prediction when May and Morrison were expected to play major roles this year.
*But the Brevin Knight thing. Forget that the team ran Knight off when he wanted to stay. The big thing to me is that this is a direct slam at McInnis and Felton as not being good enough PG's for the team. I think that this signals that he and mgmnt have given up on Felton as the PG of our future. That is what I take from the comments more than anything else.
I really think you may see mgmnt make a serious push for a trade involving Felton now. There are few realy good PG's coming out in the draft, and it would not surprise me now at all to see us package Okafor and Felton to get someone and another Lottery pick. On the "Trade" thread, I mentioned seeing Okafor, Felton and Carroll go to Memphis for Gasol and Memphis' 1st rounder. That could seriously go down now in myopinion IF Memphis were to consider it. We have apparently talked to them in the recent past according to articles.
He needs to accept some blame, the more I hear him, the less and less I like him.
It appears to me that Vincent is bucking management instead of being in sync with them. He's looking everywhere for excuses about our record while taking no blame.
Vincent says he can't win with the status quo and whines for another big, basically hounding management THRU THE MEDIA to get a partner for Emeka. He refused to play Fabio, stating continually that Mek must play the PF position.
Management complies, taking on salary for 2 expirings. Jordan got critiqued for that move, mainly because of the salary implications.
Management decides during the summer that Felton should have the chance to be the unquestioned PG of the team and buys out Knight, retaining McGinnis as the lone backup.
25 games in, Vincent states TO THE MEDIA that Felton's growth is being hurt by playing so much off guard and will play the PG almost exclusively from now on. TWO DAYS LATER Vincent totally reverses himself and states that Felton isn't a pure PG but a combo guard. He also says that now Emeka CAN'T play PF but is truly a Center. Last night Vincent effectively told management they were wrong in releasing Knight.
In less than a week Vincent has went against 3 of the 4 things management did this summer IN THE MEDIA. Two of those were flat out reversals, one within days of what he himself said he wanted.
Somehow I don't see Jordan admitting that he's so clueless...especially when the charges are coming from a rookie coach. Does anyone think he appreciated Vincent saying he wanted Jordan on the floor during games, basically repeating some of the crap those haters on Charlotte.com continually rant about?
This might actually work out in the end. Jordan might not fire Vincent because of his record...but running to the media with rationalizations might do the trick. Isn't that what people were worried about with Larry Brown?
We just deal with yet another year setback. Wonderful.

Wow...I'm sort of speechless too...don't really know what to say. I'm rapidly losing the desire to support this guy. He is the number one cause of the teams difficulties.
My first reaction though to the article was for Bonnell to "just stop it." That Brevin Knight is even a point of discussion is ridiculous. No team is going far with him at point guard. No one seriously misses him; other than Bonnell and Vincent I guess.
As for Vincent...well this is just further confirmation of what I've been fearing. He's not a good coach, and that's being nice.
We aren't remotely missing 40 points of production. With Morrison injured we're probably actually better off as he is potentially one of the worst players in the league; and Sean May has been injured for ummmm 2 SEASONS and pretty much we all knew that he couldn't be counted on.
Really Morrison's injury was a bonus and May was never an option.
One more time...play Felton at PG; drop McInnis to sub. When you have to play a team with 3 quality bigs; put Dudley in there with Wallace and make the most of it. Develop Davidson...now. You've got a roster spot; pick up a PF or a PG please. DAMN it isn't that hard.
And stop making excuses good God.
Bobcats Redemption?
The negative energy around Vincent and this team is getting exhausting.
Yet there is so much positive...JRich is excelling now as is Gerald Wallace. Felton is actually a fine Point Guard if anyone would let him do that. No he isn't Chris Paul or Deron Williams, but he's Raymond Felton and he's quick as hell; is an excellant ball handler; can score the clutch shot when needed...jeez I'm sorry I know he's got some flaws, but his heart is totally connected to this team and I'd really like to see him be given the chance to succeed.
Okafor is not Dwight Howard; nope he's not. But if we'd just stop messing around, we could enjoy having an elite defensive Center and one of the leagues leading shot blockers in the paint. I hear he's not so good at guarding forwards shooting from the corner; go figure.
Okafor's had plenty of excellant games scoring in the paint on put backs and inside feeds. Just work on that. Forget the other weird stuff.
sigh...really this isn't rocket science. We have the fricking tools to be a playoff team; but enough flaws to get exploited and knocked out early in the playoffs. That's what we can be. But with the current atmosphere and lousy coaching; we're mid-lottery like last year. What a joyful place to be.

Felton is tremendous at driving, he is strong enough to really get to the rack and a hard worker wants to be the leader, but he just is not there yet, he will start off poorly and then vincent will bench him right as he starts to get into a rhythm. Its painful to see how vincent subs players out, but only mr. mike can get rid of him
I really think you will see Mike move players in a blockbuster trade before he gives up on his Coach. One character trait he has illustrated over the years is a fierce loyalty to his friends. He will dismantle the core of the team and make major adjustments before he keeps the players intact and fires his friend. That is my read on MJ. I think we would be more accurate if we were trying to predict trade scenarios which may work rather than wish for Sam's firing.
Brevin Knight? Seriously?
I'm about done with this guy. I hate to give up on anyone associated with the Bobcats, but he's gonna have to really turn himself around to get respect. I was not sorry to see Brevin go, at all.
With Sam questioning moves that MJ had a big hand in, do you still think that MJ will be loyal? I'm not so sure.
