We'd have to give up muc more. I would give Okafor, Felton and one more body to get Gasol and their 1st rounder as it will be a Lottery pick.
i read on prosportsdaily.com (bobcats rumors) that we apparently have a trade sitting on the table for gasol... who would we deal? i guess a future 1st rounder, morrison, and othella?... he would be a missing link but would we have to give up too much?

I can't see Felton headed that way considering how crowded their backcourt already is. However, the deal would have to include Okafor and a couple of players to make it a legal deal.Originally Posted by ohara831
I just think a deal with Memphis is too complicated to get done. Gasol makes a ton of cash and our only players that do are Okafor, Wallace and Richardson. There's no way Memphis is taking Wallace or Richardson as the centerpiece of the deal. That leaves Okafor and other players.
SOMEONE will pay for THIS!
i cant explain to you how pissed i would be if they traded....
Okafor, Morrison
for
Gasol.
That wouldnt solve a single problem we have.
Please, dear god, no more acquiring massive contracts and bartering away our future for a possible quick fix. I was happy about the JR deal, not too happy with Nazr deal (though he's played pretty damn good overall, when he gets minutes), but that's enough. Ohara has finally won me over with the acquisition of draft picks, and I say that's the only thing we should focus on, aside from trying to sign Antawn this off-season. I say maybe they can do a 3 way deal where we get draft pick(s) and expiring contract, Memphis gets Mek (an expiring contract), and team 3 gets Gasol. I say 2009 is the year we should make a push for a top-flight FA, or at least a damn solid one, to put us over the top. Then again, this all depends on who we draft in 08 and how he turns out....
Nonetheless, no more trades that hamper our salary cap further!!!

If we don't get their first round picks for this upcoming draft then we shouldn't trade for him, no way.
__________________________________________________ ________ I agree. I want Gaso and their 1st, and I'd give them Felton, Okafor and another body - perhaps Carroll since he somehow seems to have wound up in Sam's doghouse. He hardly plays now.Originally Posted by Alex

It doesn't sound like Memphis is gonna trade Gasol.
Look at this from the article on Gasol and trade rumors:
Short-term, Wallace said the Griz have no plans to move Gasol, who is often mentioned in trade rumors. Memphis has received calls and standing trade offers for Gasol from at least two teams -- Charlotte and Atlanta -- according to insiders.
Mike Miller also has been mentioned as trade bait in national reports. But one thing to keep in mind about the Grizzlies is that they won't accept expiring contracts for their top talent. Teams, though, have become more serious about trades since Dec. 15, when free agents from last summer could be dealt.
If it says they won't accept expiring contracts (Okafor) for top talent (Gasol) then it doesn't look like this trade will happen.
Note: The article is talking about Chris Wallace (Grizzlies GM.)
Mek would be an RFA and the trade would transfer Bird Rights...so he really wouldn't be an expiring. Just like with us, if Mek wanted out he'd almost have to go thru Memphis via a sign and trade deal.
