What did we learn from the "No point guard offense"?

What did we learn from the no PG offense last night against the Pistons. Obviously we need to have a PG on the court, but I was very pleasantly surprised with how well most of the players performed without the benefit of a true point on the court:

Emeka: 19 points / 15 boards / 2 steals / 1 block
Nazr: 19 points / 13 boards / 3 blocks
J-Rich: 20 points / 8 assists
Crash: 26 points / 5 rebounds / 6 assists / 3 blocks ( his numbers are always good regardles of whos on the court )

It was fun to watch some of the weird lineups like Mek, Nazr, Ryan, Jared and J-Rich on the court at the sametime but what did we learn from the experiment that we can use to help us improve for the rest of the season?

i think we learned we have a great group of guys that don't care if they're labeled a 1,2,3,4 or 5. Gerald handled things well except tripping over his own feet in the 4th. I really hope it showed Radio that we don't have to have jeff or ray on the court, maybe he won't think PG first and then screw everything else up after that.

I swear I saw this last night. Maybe it was GW instead of Nazr or something, but it was crazy.

To answer the question at hand, though, what we learned can be summed up by "Points in the Paint."

Exactly; Thats my favorite saying "put it in the paint" the scoring % of paint shots to perimeter shots is really no contest on any given team. Id rather any day take high % shots over low % shots.....

Play Emeka and Nazr together more often that's the thing I saw most last night that I want to see more of in the near future. That could be a beast combo for us when BOTH man show up playing their A game.

We definitely need a PG to start plays. While Gerald did okay later in the game, he was extremely sloppy throughout. Most every time down the court he would take the ball to the right and try to pass it into the post. If he did not have the post open he would force a pass or he would pick up his dribble and wait for someone to get open

There's a few things I'm tempted to point out...oh, what the hell...

Even though Nazr coming on board proved that the difficulty getting the ball down low isn't all on the PG after all, last night also showed that Emeka doesn't have to be given the ball on a soft feathery pillow in order to be effective. There's 5 guys on the court and it's up to all of them to play team ball.

As DNB said, the guys HAD to move in the offense in order to do anything. They resorted to one on one play a lot, but they also moved and tried to create (JRich with 8 assists). Hopefully they'll take that from this game and utilize it in the future. It shouldn't be all on the PG to spoonfeed these guys...they have a responsibility just as he does.

Besides, it makes them as well as the team better all around. This Detroit loss could very well be a key point.
