    Default Sean May

This question is for those who have been to games recently or are going tonight.

I was reading some other sites for Bobcat fans to see what people are saying. One thing that has come up on a couple sites, cannot remember where exactly, is about May. They are saying that he looks quite overweight, and seems very, very uninvolved and uninterested in the games. Like the game is the last place he'd like to be at that time. When the team is in a timeout and huddling together, he just hangs on the fringes and is not paying attention at all. He is not cheering his teamates on during the games. (This would be the opposite of Adam Morrison who I see many times rather energetic and supportive of this teamates during games.) They are saying that May is just riding out his paycheck as his attitude seems to show he gives no indication he is going to play again.

If you have been recently, have you noticed this? If you are going tonight to the Philly game, watch him and let us know if that is something obvious to you. If we are not going to have him around next year as well, I'd like to get an idea of that now. That would be a real shame - so much talent wasted. I mentioned a couple months ago that I did not expect him back, and what I am reading seems to enforce my feeling that Sean May will not be playing ball for us again.

I've seen Sean on many many nights where he's bright and cheerful and others where he's not as much. Sean will always have his weight issues but especially when he can't train effectively.

Sean May has been battling knee problems for what must be 3 seasons now and still has a long road to recovery. I'm sure there's a lot going on in his head. Microfracture surgery is very serious stuff for a career basketball player.

Saying that I understand your concern O'Hara; because I guess the word on the street is that he has lifestyle discipline issues. I don't know much about that.

What I've seen though hasn't given me any worries at all beyond his normal ability to recover from his surgery.

If Sean May can return to his potential; he can be a great NBA player and Bobcat's asset. At this time though, who knows? It'll be interesting to watch; and as a Bobcats fan; he's got my full support for sure. I hope the Bobcats are feeling the same way.

The games I've been to, I haven't noticed much difference between May's or Morrison's actions during the game. Both get excited at times and look uninterested at others. For that matter, Othella has looked the same way.

I think it's just tough for these guys to be out for so long, not being able to make a difference for their teams. We participate because we love watching and cheering. They participate because they love playing on the court. I think it's two different mindsets.

The bottom line is that I don't either are especially blameworthy or praiseworthy. May has been seen many times working on his shot before games. Whether that's to stay in the limelight or to genuinely improve his game, who's to say? I think both guys will play with fire when the time comes for them to get back on the court.

As for May's weight. He's never going to be none as slim. However, I think the perception of his weight issues has more to do with having a baby face than actual body fat. When he's working out with his jersey tucked in, he looks big but not severely overweight. He looks like what many NBA bigs would look like if they couldn't run for an extended period of time.
    SOMEONE will pay for THIS!

If y'all had known me for more than the last month or so I've been posting you would know me as the single biggest Sean May hater. I hated him in college, all the chest pounding and whatnot, I just couldn't stand the guy. Draft day I was kinda pissed we took Sean and Ray, I figured the team was making a play for the Carolina homer fan base. Sean suprised me in his rookie year, I thought he played well, he came up big in a few games, all around not bad. Of course I ended up loving Ray, hard work goes a long way.
Sean played hard in college, he wanted to get that championship, and did, then hit the road for the NBA. I think he figured once he got the NBA his ticket was punched, he didn't have to work hard, he hit that rookie wall. Then the injuries started to pile up. If you're over weight and don't work, the first thing to go is your knees. He is definitely a party boy, he can put on the jeans and a sports coat and go to the game, get the Wal-Mart Carolina fans to holler his name once or twice, roll out to the club or whatever after. He is never going to get back on the team on a consistant basis.
I work with a couple die hard Carolina fans and they really keep up with him. When he was hurt last year they came up to me as a Bobcats fan looking for info, I didnt know anything other than he was hurt. They tell me his knee is bone on bone, he'll never play 2 consecutive games again. I mean we havent heard this from any one but fans, and Sean May fans at that. He is definitely bigger, I know it's a "cool" look but come on tuck in your shirt, unless you're scared of looking fat. (I wear my button ups like that, I know from experience) Think of who has had the Micro-fracture surgery: Amare, Webber, Greg Oden, there have been tons of others but I can't think of them because they don't matter because they havent been good after the surgery. Amare, a freak of an athlete, young, competitive has come back and is playing on almost the level he left at. CWebb hasn't been the same, he never will be, he's been known as a malcontent and not a hard worker. It remains to be seen about Oden but his rehab is coming along nicely.
Sean just wants to party, eat and get paid, he'll never be a part of the Bobcat's future, IMO.

Well I have to back up Morrison. He has never ever missed a game due to injury all through middle school, high school and college. Adam at this point is most likely a little bit depressed or bored. Morrison also at least comes out onto the court and gives high fives at the end of the quarter or timeout.
McMay on the other hand has been injured before and should know how to handle it and he should be supporting his teammates a little more.
Dont get me wrong though, I love Sean and what he can bring to the court but I just dont know how he is still a Bobcat. MJ usually doesn't like guys who show little emotion and have little work ethic.

Agreed Ammofan (well except for the last sentence). I've worried that Ammo sometimes looks a little isolated from the team. Nobody talks to him much.

But he seems to be a great kid and does his best to stay tuned with his teammates, at least during games; and guys like DA and McInnis especially respond to that. Others not as much, but so what? That's their problem not Ammo's I figure.

Here's hoping that both May and Morrison go on to have excellant NBA careers; and hopefully both with the Bobcats.

On offense, Morrison could pose a real match-up problem for defending SG's and SF's. On defense, nobody really knows who he can defend; but hopefully he won't blow out his other knee trying to guard someone.

Well i dont know if he is "isolated" because sometimes he sits in the front and sometimes in the back row. I think that they alternate throughout the game.
