no about kobe. no about us. Every game matters, we are not losing on purpose. That would be especially stupid for a team that has a first year coach, yeah just make them lose some make them win some, then next year you can actually try... no way
Something struck me last night, and it started to make sense. I wanted to see if you men and women of the BobcatsPlanet think there may possibly be something to this theory. Follow me.
No doubt that Phil Jackson is a genius in coaching. He is a master motivator and slick as an eel. I was following how the Lakers continue to win, and thought back on this off season. All the talk of Kobe being traded. Kobe bad mounthing the organization. Kobe ON CAMERA saying how stupid the GM was and how he wanted Bynum's ass shipped out in a trade. Expectations were low! Bynum acted like nothing happened; strange when you get slammed publicly. Now, they are solidly in contention for the West's crown.
I thought to myself "this was all a diversion set up by Phil Jackson." Kobe was never going to leave and he is not stupid enough to bad mouth the team and his teammates on camera like that. No wonder Bynum took it so well - he know it was an act! This was done intentionally with the intent of making people think the team was in disarray and would not be in contention this season. BRILLIANT! They caught everyone off guard-brilliance!
Who did MJ learn from in Chicago? Phil Jackson. I thought about all that Dennis Rodman stuff and how people wondered if that would distract the Bulls. No, they just kept winning. It was gamesmanship by a master - Phil.
Now, I know Sam Vincent is a 1st yr Coach. He has made mistakes. But since MJ's talk to the team, notice how prevalent it became that after a loss Sam was saying controversial stuff about his players. Throwing them under the bus. And the players just respond with "I don't know where that is coming from." No MJ interference and no one on the team blowing up publicly. Interesting. Why?
I think just possibly that this is an act orchestrated by MJ. This is out of the Phil Jackson handbook of deception. Make the people think you are in disarray and they will not take you seriously and you will fly "under the radar." They will never see you coming! Now, we are 1 game out of the 8th spot, and 2 from the 7th. **And all this after losing 2 of our men expected to be major contributors. We were not expected to compete - but here we are, aren't we!
Interesting theory, yes? Maybe I am just hoping that we are not as disfunctional as we seem publicly, but I really think this could be an orchestrated move by MJ. What do you all think? Are we intentionally flying "under the radar."?

No guys. I am not talking about Losing games on purpose. Geez, read what I wrote. I am talking about the Statements made by Coach which is the cause of the talk. About when he is supposedly throwing his players under the bus. That sort of distraction. I did not say anything about losing any games on purpose. Geez.
I read what you wrote, and it was interesting. However, I'm gonna have to put this on the same level as the "Hire Sam Vincent to cause Mek to play worse so that we have a reason to sign him for cheaper in the summer of 2008" conspiracy theory that I put out a while back.Originally Posted by ohara831
While, I think you'd even admit that it wasn't likely, it certainly isn't out of the realm of possibilities.
Supposing it were true, though, where does Jeff McInnis getting so many minutes come into play? If MJ can get Radio and the team to pull off this charade, then why can't he get him to play a more sensible line-up most of the game? Thoughts?
Sam Vincent also shot JFK

I mentioned that Coach has made mistakes. Playing Jeff so much may be one. However, the point of my Post was not about losing intentionally, or ANY of his coaching decisions during the games. I believe they are trying to win every game and plan to win every game. My only point is that Sam says things which just don't make sense to us sometimes. Maybe he says these things which are to provoke the listener to say "Why is throwing his team under the bus? They will stop playing hard for him." with the intent of drawing a certain response from US and from other teams. It leads people to think the team is falling apart and into disarray. They stop worrying about us and think of the Bobcats as easy prey. Then, we pounce on them. That is my point. That maybe the reason the team is not speaking out in a more rebellious tone, as they do in NY, is because the players, Coach and management all know what is being said and why.
The playing of Jeff so much. If this was not with MJ's approval, don't you think by now he would have spoken to Sam and told him to sit Jeff? Yes. That means it is MJ's call too, and he is not going to fire Vincent for doing what he agrees with regarding Jeff and Ray.
I think your giving everyone involved a little too much credit ohara.Originally Posted by ohara831
MJ hired Sam Vincent to be the coach... not tell Vincent what to do. I dont think MJ is as involved as you may think.
I understand what you're throwing out here, ohara, and it's an intriguing theory, but it's not a theory I'm buying. I think those most recent statements following the Philly game were caused by frustration and irritation about blowing another sizeable lead at home and losing. I also agree with Mustachio that MJ is not that involved with the team so as to encourage Vincent to use this as a motivational tactic.
That being said, I'm glad to have the players we have, because no matter what any coach we have or will have, I really believe that these guys are there for each other, no matter what any coach says about them and their desire!
"The Charlotte Hornets name has been a mainstay throughout the region for many years, and we are excited to announce our intention to re-establish this historic brand. We believe that its return will galvanize our fan base by unifying our loyal Bobcats fans with those who have strong memories of our city's NBA predecessor." MJ, 5-21-13
I hope this is true.He was not saying that we are losing on purpose, just that we have a show to put on once we do lose.Originally Posted by MattD
I don't understand how you can call this disturbing. It's actually exciting because it's not that much of a stretch of the imagination.Originally Posted by Wil
