Who the fuck is Dominic Mcguire
Bounce back Friday and this game is forgotten. Some alarming things from this game though:
1. Absolutely no clue on how to double-team. You've got to jump out on the ball hard and fast; none of this tippytoe bullshit; there can't be any hesitation; you either jump out, or you come from weak side when the ballhandler is making a move to the basket and try to block the shot or foul the guy. Ron Artest ate us alive tonight because of our lack of this simple, basic guideline. I'm starting to wonder if our players are not all that smart, as opposed to blaming it all on Vincent.
2. No agression in attacking the defensive boards. How else can such a soft team like Sac get so many offensive boards?
3. When JRich is off, it's like nobody else is willing to step up and fill the void. Mek tries, but he can only do so much with his skill set. Jeff did so-so. Raymond had a great 1st half, but apparently the ankle bothered him in the 2nd because he didn't seem to log many minutes at all. Unfortunately, GW is burdened even more with trying to make things happen, and god bless him, he did make a lot happen during that run in the 4th, but he's prone to being too reckless in the half court set: he blows by his man with ease, but there's 3 more waiting for him at the basket to block his shot or draw a charge. A kick out now and then will keep the D honest.
The good thing is, I think we can improve an all these aspects, but the grand question is, will we?
*******
I have full confidence we can win Friday, but we need to play like we want the game; play with fire; none of the lethargy that was there tonight (outside of GW, Raymond, and even Jeff to some extent). I expect a better performance, and will surprised if we don't see one...
