Default Rick Carlisle for Coach NOW Thread

Why is this man wasting away in an ESPN studio?

    Pistons 01-02
    Record: 50-32
    Playoffs: Lost in conference semis

    Pistons 02-03
    Record: 50-32
    Playoffs: Lost in conference finals

    Pacers 03-04
    Record: 61-21
    Playoffs: Lost in conference finals

    Pacers 04-05 (brawl season)
    Record: 44-38
    Playoffs: Lost in conference semis

    Pacers 05-06
    Record: 41-41
    Playoffs: Lost in first round

    Pacers 06-07
    Record: 35-47
    Playoffs: -

This is a no-brainer in my opinion. The guy obviously knows how to win in the East and knows how to get his teams to the playoffs. He was able to take that demented Indy team the season after the infamous brawl all the way to the conference semis! In my opinion that's even more impressive then the 61-21 record (which by the way was the best in the whole league that season).

I think it's an absolute damn shame that a talented, smart guy like Carlisle is sitting on the sidelines and a retard like Vincent has a head coaching job. It just reflects on the state of the NBA as a whole.

If you read Larry Bird's book he wrote as a coach, he constantly praises Rick Carlisle, who was his assistant. From what I gathered, he's a big-time tactician who likes to watch game footage and use that combined with stats to determine what will work best for the team.

He's had a good history of success with teams of veterans, young players, and hotheads. I've heard his personality can be a tad abrasive, but that could just be an isolated incident, who knows. He's not a run-and-gun coach, to my recollection, but that's fine by me. He's got a proven track record

So he's a coach that puts actual thought and work into his decisions?

    I'm for him!

Hes not a run-and-gun coach, but neither is Sam Vincent. Sam also is not a defensive coach. hes a 2 point guard coach... and we know how well that works.

If he would accept id be all for this move. if for nothing else to restore a little bit of dignity back to the franchise.

Do they even let him talk on ESPN anymore? I think he's freakin great. I was trying to think of who we could bring in. Larry Brown is not the answer, I think Paul Silas is too old, I don't want another "next hot coach" or former player that bought glasses once he retired. Bring him on, if he'd have this heap of uninterested, over-tired, talentless, non-working team we have. Right Sam? Do you think even FSS, let alone ESPN, would take Sam when he gets out of coaching?

This is a young promising, talented team. They need an Old School, highly respected Coach. One that will break them down, rip them apart, and build them back up at the same time.

Why is Larry Brown not the answer, and Paul Silas too old.

I fail to see all this "promise" that you talk about in our team.
